I liked how Jay overcame a rough start today. When I saw that 1st pick, and he began throwing a bit wildly after that, I had a sick feeling "Bad Jay" was here today. But he kept his focus and played well. Ended up with 2 TD's and an 88.8 QBR. It's good that he can fight back from a rough start on the road like this.

The oline played better too. Carimi looked bad though.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

    1) Webb and the Oline has sucked for years.
    2) Jay has a bad game, every once in a while. Thats not even comparable.
    3) Usually Jays bad games are result of the Oline.

So he isnt type of leader you want. You dont have to be Optimus Prime to be a leader. Megatron does a good job too.

Finally, I dont get the constant Media hate and stories on Jay. Do people still read them? Its the same story every week. Dont the readers get bored of it?

Seriously, which player on offense should push "Bad Jay" round and yell at HIM when he's crapping up the field? Heck, maybe we can have all the players push or punch on whichever guy is sucking in any given game. Love it. WWF excitement. Whoever is struggling on the team can get humiliated in front of everyone.

    Now THAT'S leadership.

And for that matter, why let the offense have all the fun trashing players. If Robbie Gould misses a FG, have a player kick him in the groin and drop his butt right on the field. Right there in front of everyone. He'll "learn" to make that NEXT field goal after that humiliation.

Heck let the defense in on the fun too. Have Peppers drop-kick a guy who gives up a TD. Or have Urlacher sucker punch a dlineman who is struggling.

Who needs coaches? Everyone can be a leader. Just yell and push around whoever is struggling on your team. Embarrass him, and that will make you a "leader" ...

This will also get the Bears "respect" when it's in front of national TV audiences too. Just look at how the NFL fans around the country rallied around Jay Cutler when he yelled at Webb.

Yeah, that's "leadership" that will work.

p.s. I just had an idea regarding who should be the "leader" who embarrasses Jay when he's tanking in a game. It doesn't HAVE to be an offense guy who embarrasses Jay - does it? Why couldn't Peppers push him to the ground and have Urlacher just sit on his head and cut a big juicy fart. Right there on national TV. I mean rip a big greasy one. We could call it "fart leadership" and be cutting edge on this new "leadership" thing in Chicago.

That would get Jay embarrassed enough to stop throwing ints in one of those "Bad Jay" games. This might work. Maybe this is what got guys like Joe Montana to the top. Good "leaders" embarrassing him.

LOL, the Packers O-line looked like Heroes again today.

As I said, there was only one reason they looked decent last week. They faced the #32 defense.

Alright Teddy Bruschi, we get your point but just because you side with the man who has no idea what was said your side has about as much weight as any other speculative point on this site.

How do you know that Cutler was yelling at Webb for being awful? From what I read, some people believe he actually yelled at him for the false start penalty which would make it a stupid mistake, the same reason Rodgers was yelling at Jones.
Also, if he was yelling at Webb for getting beaten over and over and over again, so what? It's not like he was yelling at some 3rd string tackle that was forced to step in and got beaten in a game he shouldn't have been in, many people have watched, coached and mentioned that Webb has legitimate LT ability, size and talent, he just chooses when he wants to use it. If he has the talent and is not motivated to use it, that seems like a pretty good reason to get in his face and do what you can to motivate a lazy talented player. Some players need a coach or teammate to tell him just how bad he is playing in order to light that fire.

Im glad that Cutler has the sack to do something himself about it rather then wait for a coach or another teammate to step up and say something to a lazy player, especially when its his ass on the line.

I've been monitoring this thread, and just have a couple things I'd like to add.

    1) I am getting the idea that posters think Jay called out Webb publicly as some form of long term motivation that was planned to happen in front of cameras. I do not agree with this idea. Jay is not that well thought out in terms of leadership. I think he was getting hit and sacked way too often, and got upset at his teammate on the sideline who was responsible for a good amount of it.

    2) In all of football, the offensive line - QB relationship is unique in that if the o-line fails in its job, the QB suffers physical pain. If Robbie Gould misses a field goal, no on else pays for it. I don't think Jay handled the Webb situation very well, but I can understand why he did it.

    3) This happened on the sideline. It's not like he called out Webb in front of reporters. Since the networks have a camera solely devoted to following around Jay Cutler, we all got to see it and speculate about what could it mean.

    4) Jay Cutler is not going to be organizing a "Leaders of Tomorrrow" conference anytime soon. He's just seems like a private guy thrust into a high profile job and does a poor job of putting a good PR face on the role.

Well, I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I don't think it was planned at all. Here's how I think the progression went.

    2010 season:
Jay was harassed CONSTANTLY due to poor O-Line play. Big JWebb was a rookie 7th rounder thrown into the fire at RT. As with any QB, Jay knew how important his big uglies were and had patience while they learned. At that time, Jay maintained his cool while he was being pummeled into submission and still never said anything while Mr. Webb was being called time after time for drive killing Holding penalties, but the problems were all over the line that year, including Jays Old college buddy Chris Williams.

    2011 season:
After a year of terrible O-Line play the year before, JWebb is moved to the left side to protect Jays blind side. We all know how critical the LT is to every right handed QB in the league, and Webb was rated one of the worse in the league after the season was over, yet all the while, Jay going through 10 of the seasons 16 games, Jay was helping the line out by getting the ball out quick or scrambling to buy more time. By this time, the kid was no rookie anymore, but still undeniably green, especially on the left side. As a result, I envision Jay getting on Webb and the rest of his O-line in private, in meeting rooms and throughout the week, trying to help them (Especially Webb) get his head in the game and on the same page as him, Just like a good leader should.

    2012 season:
Webb is no longer a Rookie, albeit still young, but he has all the physical tools to excel, right? Jay perhaps watched the off-season progress of his O-Linemen working out together, with Webb being a no-show often, but Chris Williams there always. I'm sure Jay knows of WebbNation and him hocking T-Shirts, while Jay doesn't even do endorsements (with the exception of one NFL Appearel commercial). Perhaps Jay is questioning the commitment of the one O-Lineman that is most critical to his own success. Perhaps after 2 years of trying to help him, and watching others get in his face and try and help him (O-line mates, Tice, perhaps even Lovie, etc.), Jays patience with Webb has grown thin. Then the time comes, while playing our teams arch rival, Jay is continually harassed again, and Webb has False Start problems AGAIN, and Jay finally lets him have it after having the the air forced from his lungs from a savage back blast yet again.

That's how I see this whole thing progressing.

For what it's worth, Webb had yet another good game yesterday. He actually looked like one of the stonger links in our O-Line yesterday.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

The positive thing is that we have a high-powered offense now. We have one of the better WR corps in the NFL. We have one of the best RB tandems in the NFL. Our OC has settled down now and is putting together good game plans & his play calling has improved to where it's good. The offensive line isn't great, but it is certainly "average" right now. When I watch other games I notice many teams have worse lines that ours right now.

Cutler is a physically gifted QB. He should be able to perform very well with this offense. He has more weapons than most teams have. This is a high-powered offense that most QB's in the NFL would love to play behind.

The "leadership" thing with Jay really doesn't matter with most Bears fans (I think). Most of us just want to see the Bears win. That's all. Just win.

    Should be a good season.

It was just my feeble attempt at humor when I was trying to be funny/sarcastic in my earlier post about Gould etc. The heck of it is, I do like having Cutler as our QB. I'm not anti-Cutler at all. I just agree with your point #4 "Cutler is not going to be organizing a "Leaders of Tomorrow" conference anytime soon"... and I really don't care about that either, as long as he's a good QB for us.
