Wow, did this thread take some winding turns. I just wanted to point out that Webb had been doing much better since his little butt chewing and that perhaps Jay didn't deserve some of the crap he received. I see that many still believe he deserved it, and that's fine. I also see many that agree with me, and thats even better. Ultimately, I guess it's behind us. I do however, think it's funny that we can see other QB's that are considered highly respected leaders of their teams having blowouts with their O-Linemen, their OC's, their WR's and all is fine, but Jay gets nationally ridiculed. Why, because they have Superbowl rings? Last I checked, a Superbowl victory has little to do with the leadership qualities of an NFL QB. Would Grossman be considered a great leader if we had actually won it all in 2006? Was Fran Tarkenton NOT not a great leader of his Viking Team? Better yet, will Jay be considered a great leader if we win it all this year?

I just think the double standard to the extreme that this represents is hypocracy at its finest.

    Ah, to hell with it.

Some of the best leaders, mentors, and examples are people who don't have any awards, trophies, or medals. And people would still aspire to be like or have attributes similar to them. A person can do a thousand things of leadership on or behind the scenes but to have a dust up here and there and all of a sudden some are quick to call him moody, crybaby, or petulant. Until I actually MEET the person and get a sense of what they are experiencing I can't judge like that.

It would be an interesting thought experiment to put JC in another situation. Like say a bar fight or some other ACTUAL physical encounter. I think there would be some really divergent opinions then.

I will have to post this here since it will not let me start a new thread, but this article does make some points:

But suppose Cutler jumping people now and then actually works for the Bears? Hasn't J'Marcus Webb played better since that whole screaming, bumping thing with Cutler in Green Bay? I'm just asking. For that matter, didn't the Bears begin a five-game winning streak last season after Cutler dropped that F-bomb on Mike Martz, which led to the offensive coordinator calling much smarter plays? I'm just asking. Didn't the Bears offense get a whole lot better Monday night after Cutler blew off Tice for a few minutes?

ARodgers leads the league in being sacked w/16. In his last 67 drop backs though he's been sacked 0 times. Meaning that his OL has improved; did he chest bump/dog cuss his OL on national TV? No. The Coaches have come up w/a gameplan to LIMIT the OL's problems.

Great points here and good share inch. I like the edginess. I remember a certain QB that played for the Bears back about 27 years ago that had pretty good success. I think he got a ring and I think he hated the media as well. I also think he was a bit "quirky" and had a little bit of an attitude. Hmm...interesting to think about

I am not saying that the chest bump against Webb helped, but your argument has some holes.

    1) Weeks 1-3, the Packers played winning teams with great defenses. Week 4, the Pack played a 0-3 team with no coach. The Saints offense is still clicking thanks to Brees, but their Defense sucks.

    2) The Oline for the Bears did play well. I am surprised that Ware didnt destroy Webb. Dallas has a statistical top 5 Defense. The Saints are 32nd in the league.

The return of the refs also saw a return of the great offenses of the Saints, Pats and Packers.... coincidence? I think not!

Very true, and I also saw the return of bad calls, that aren't scrutinized by the media.

Maybe AR chewing out his WR is what the team took notice of?

Competition isn't as good true, but what doesn't have holes is that both teams changed their strategy to help the OL more. Spaeth was helping on Ware, and Spaeth was brought in by Martz to be a 6th OL more then a 2nd TE. When Ware v Webb were 1 on 1, he got to Cutler 30% of the time(2 sacks 6 chances).

Did Webb improve yes, but I don't think anyone can prove that it was Cutler being Cutler over gameplanning Webb, as much as possible, out of the O strategy.
