    Bears PR

Somewhere , someone stated the Bears problem with the media lies within. The Bears are COLD, withdrawn. They think of the media as the enemy. Instead of using it to thiere advantage( Bears) they shut them out. As a FAN I hate Lovie's postgame or any other press coverage. Why should the media given the any different treatmeant? The media DOES treat the Bears in the same fashion that the Bears treat the media. Lovei's postgame reports or even the pregame are just NOTHING, take what you will. So why can't the media return the favor? For the media IS showing the same miscontempt the Bears show. It's a 2 way street. The Bears just don't care, yet will sound FOUL when the media isn't on board, yet just the opposite. I can't get on the media for the way the Bears are percieved, for it is the Bears fault. I do not in anyway mean this a as JC postgame interview, for he should not EVEN be allowed to do one.

Frankly I don't think most of the Bears players and a few of the coaches even cares what the media thinks or says. They speak with the media at specified times during the week and after games because they are required to make themselves available to to them. The NFL demands it.

It isn't contempt. It's just that Cutler, Lovie Urlacher and a few others don't suffer fools and idiots easily and there are a lot of foolish and idiotic questions asked by the media. We all know that. So they spend the five minutes with them required of them by the NFL and then get on with their business and their private lives and personally I have no problem with that at all.

I'd rather spend my time reading things by writers and listening to things from sportscasters who know the game and have something to contribute to my knowledge as opposed to those who want to sensationalize the trivial.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Well scotty, I'm probably the one who made those comments about the media. Reviewing those posts, I can see how they could be read as a call for some torches, pitchforks, and rope to go after journalists (the media). That however, was not my intent. I was trying to point out that when popular (or public) organizations attempt to keep the media at a distance(the Nixon presidency, maybe Howard Huges), the media commonly responds by "reading between the lines" to get as much information as they can. (Hell, don't we do this already almost every time Lovie speaks at a press conference?) All that speculation is a breeding ground for controversy, real and imagined. I'm not saying that this is a deliberate act by the press, or that the actions of the franchise have no bearing on the result. Rather, I believe this pattern is part of human nature.

The Bears, for whatever reason, prefer to keep the media at arms length. As is their right.

The media responds by noticing the dead space, reading between the lines, and trying to fill in the blanks. Usually with varying degrees of success due to the dearth of info given out by the Bears. Not only is this the right of the media, they're PAID to do this.

As fans of the Chicago Bears, we should keep those two things in mind whenever the media, the franchise, or even other fans, say things about the Bears.

Darn, I just realized I could have said all that more simply; We should always consider the source.

Football is a sport, not a game show. Players and coaches dont need to be concerned with what the media thinks, all that matters is what they do on the gridiron.
    I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

I'm not sure that I can gather what you are saying through your terrible grammar and broken sentences. However, if you are referring to the fact that the Bears are not forthcoming with the media then you are correct. Lovie is a master of this. He can speak for 5 to 10 minutes without really "saying" anything at all. This is something we should all learn how to do. Lovie handles the media perfectly. The media is looking for scandals, schisms, controversy, and anything else that would sell papers and tear a locker room apart. Tell them nothing and we will have fewer problems. Media can only hurt a team.

I do agree with you that JC should not be allowed to address the media post-game. He is an asshole and doesn't even try to hide it. He thinks he is Jesus and acts like it. His public persona is disgraceful to all Bears and he makes us look like jerks for putting our faith in him. However, he is the best QB we have had in a long time so I'd rather keep him around. Just don't let him talk to the media and get him off that radio show he does now, what a joke.

Hate him or love him, you should check out smokin jay cutler. Just google it and go to the site its funny as hell.

    Great Video!

First: Hey Jay, the 80's called and it wants its sweater back! LOL

Secondly: Did you hear him? This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say he thinks he is Jesus in Chicago.

About Tice: "Yea he is our guy, he has our full support."

Excuse me Jay, when the hell did it start mattering who YOU support as your BOSS? Nobody cares what you think about Tice and it shouldn't matter what you think about him, EVER. You are not Lovie Smith and Tice is not Rex Grossman. Thats a pretty big-time attitude for a QB who is mid-career and hasn't earned much besides a "gun-slinger" moniker.

Thats exactly the type of thinking that got Martz run out of town. Martz who had the offense playing some pretty damn good football, had the team at 7-3 when the defense was not really playing all that well like they are this season, had Forte leading the league in all purpose yards before the injury, and had Jay Cutler himself on track for one of his best seasons as a pro.

If I were Tice I'd say: "Hey Jay, thanks for letting me know I'm your guy... by the way, you're benched this week and we are starting Campbell."

Your reply is broken grammar? Really. How's that for broken grammar. I know, it's a LATE reply, slipped thru. MY ( ME) point was where DO Bears fan get the INFO they / we want? Media is left to " read between the lines" and the Bears "speak, but say nothing". It is about marketing your field of work. You don't market, you will fall by the wayside. IF, IF the Bears had , say, the Browns recored ( or Detiolet's) , do you think the Bears might be MORE inclined to get the word ( PR ) out?

Is that ok, not too broken for you" XX" i need help as in " Midway". Public schools, or head up your azz, or both?

I like Jay Cutler. I don't care if he is, or everybody thinks he is, an asshole. I have been accused of being one on numerous occasions. Whatever. Deal with it. What do you want, a cuddly, always smiling, candy ass bitch? I don't like Tebow.
On the subject of Jets Qb's, maybe you would like this sniveling pussy better?

As long as Cutler plays well on the field, and doesn't get in trouble/arrested off the field, then I don't give a happy damn if he plays nice with the reporters. As for supporting Tice, I really don't know what else he would say- I think he sucks? I wish Martz were still here? I support him 87%? Of course he is going to say he supports him 100%. That is a stock, standard, run-of-the-mill statement.

Edit: I didn't mean for this post to be quite so argumentative and angry sounding lol. I really just wanted an excuse to post that gif. Cuz it's funny as hell.

    Love the .gif Boss.

Regarding the sports media and the Bears I have mixed feelings on this. Some players and coaches are better at interviews than our guys are (some are outright entertaining to watch on other teams). I'm 100% fine with Lovie's interviews. He's respectful and goes through the motions to fulfill his obligation as the head coach. Tice can be entertaining. He is more loose with the reporters, and can be downright funny.

Urlacher, Briggs, and most of our players are fine too. Cutler needs to be a bit more patient and polished. But hey, I'm OK if he gets in front of the mic and moons the journalists - as long as he plays well in games.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
