You know it's the bye week when we're arguing who is better, Turner or Martz
Next up: "Sex Canon Rex or Neckbeard Orton" who would you pick for your QB if they put a gun to your head and you HAD to pick one for your Bears QB?

we should discuss the rick mirer trade lmfao
Harvey Unga vs Aurise Curry
The Thomas Jones vs. Cedric Benson arguments were epic too.
Haha JABF this is a troll thread if ever I've seen one, it also reminds me we are on bye week. Next week can't come soon enough.
That being said Martz is clearly the better man. He had us playing well offensively before the injuries.
Definitely used forte better ( marshal Faulk 2.0 anyone?) than he's being used now and better than turner used any backs.
Talk about Martz antiquated system is really stupid as its the same one Tice uses, just paired down and with audibles.
RT Had two goes with the bears ( who does that, hire a guy twice?) and he took a dump on us both times.
It almost feels like a mini off-season :sad44:
I think we hired RT the 2nd time because he did some good things his 1st stint with the Bears. Although I'm sure the Illini fans sure wished we would have kept him
Martz' offense almost needed "the perfect storm" to work. It just isn't practical in modern football. After the Rams fired him, the Lions & 49'ers fired him. We let him "retire" ......you'll never see him work in the NFL again. Stick a fork in him. He's done.
Ron Turner was picked up by the Colts for a couple of years, working with their WR's and QB's, and now he's with Tampa. He's not that old (58), so he could end up with an OC job again down the road. You never know. I'm not a Ron Turner fan & was thrilled to see him let go. He did do some good things his 1st stint here IMHO.
His 2nd stint wasn't so hot, but he did get some mileage out of 2nd rate QB's Orton and Grossman - and we sure had 2nd rate WR's during that era. The same thing could be said for Martz too though - he never had great WR's or a decent oline while he was here. I blame Jerry Angelo for that (just ask 4th & 26 ).
I do see a significant difference between the Martz and Tice offenses. The playbook, play calling, audibles allowed, TE's allowed to be a bigger part of the receiving, hurry up allowed, and it's not built on the strict timing (throwing to a spot on the field) that took incredible precision to work consistently (yes there are still plays that use this, but Martz made it a bigger part of his offense), and Martz had no use for tall receivers, while we now have an offense that is doing fine with tall receivers.
That's my 2 cents worth anyway. I'm not saying any of this is right. Just my opinion.
Isn't that like asking whether are I'd rather drink hemlock or swallow a cyanide pellet? :lol-032:
If I have to choose, and I don't really want to, then gimme Turner over Martz.
