Shitty coaches that Lovie Smith hired. Brilliant.

Yeah but to be fair 4th you gotta remember that Turner was a McCaskey family "recommendation", a strong recommendation at that. Turner followed the Terry Shea hire and that one I will hang on Lovie 100% but not so much with Turner. He was a "safe choice".
Martz however was anything but a "safe choice" but also unfortunately he was also kind of "last man standing" after all of the other teams had made their hires. Bates turned us down then or he might have been our guy long before now.
Let's blame JA for some of this too just for good measure. Lovie didn't make those decisions alone. I think the Turner hire had JA written all over it but I don't think he wanted Martz either. It's just that the OC pantry was pretty bare when it came time to decide.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

For me, there is no doubt that Martz understood the game better than Turner. He was truly capable of being a game changer. Having said that, however, you also got his ego which did not seem to allow him to make the game changes he was capable of.
Everything taken into consideration, I would take the guy with greater ability and work to channel his mindset and abilities rather than the person that did not have the ability come up with game plans that make a real difference. Martz is my choice as long as you can provide adult supervision.

All I can say is that I took my two sons to a Bears game at Lambeau when "Turdner" was in charge. Even my YOUNG sons knew what play was called before the snap. Quite frustrating actually along with friendly ribbing from the Packer fans (they were actually quite nice given I had kids with me ....... probably felt sorry for us) as well.
