Ok, I'm honestly surprised that the bears are that high across the board. Yes, I think they are up in the top, but I guess the fact that they are getting that much respect just feels different to me.
Personally I think it should be.

I don't want any respect for the Bears until after we win the Superbowl. Anything sooner leaves me feeling uneasy.

I feel the same way. They'd better bring their "A" game to the Detroit game too. We are a better team. But if the Bears have ANY letup in that game, the Lions have the talent to beat us. Just like they did with Philly.
Gotta bring your hungry "A" game every week. Those rankings can give the younger players a swelled head.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I agree. The Bye week helped. I think the new strategy should be that we not play ourselves into #1. As a bonus, if we don't play we can keep our guys healthier (as long as we don't let them get near Major Wright)

That doesn't mean we won't earn the ranking over the course of the next 4 to 6 weeks. But right now I feel like we haven't really proven much. We have taken care of business and beat the teams we should beat.
That's good.
But let's see where we're at after facing the 49ers, Houson, Minny, Seattle. And we need to continue to take care of business and beat Detroit on Monday night.
Meh, I think they're meaningless at any point in any season since it's based only on what one writer or group of writers thinks. The standings are what counts and that's the true measure of whose best and whose part of the rest. Based on those power rankings the Texans should have blown the Packers off the field playing at home but just the opposite happened.
It really wouldn't matter where the SB winner ranked after the 16th regular season game. They're the World Champions and that's all that counts. The only true power rankings are the NFL Standings not PFW's version of it.
