    RANKINGS for the week

    Pro Football Weekly

    LINK to the article

    1. Atlanta Falcons: Only unbeaten team left, but plenty to work on after another close call.
    2. New York Giants: Had the best win of the week — didn’t let 49ers into the red zone.
    3. Houston Texans: Played worst all-around game in their biggest test on a national stage.
    4. Chicago Bears: How to win a bye week: Bears in first in NFC North by not playing.
    5. San Francisco 49ers: Concerning to see team fall flat twice already this season.
    6. Baltimore Ravens: Have to wonder if this is the end of Ray Lewis’ Hall-of-Fame career.
    7. Green Bay Packers: Rodgers’ six-TD performance should quiet any doubters.
    8. Seattle Seahawks: This time, no doubt about Russell Wilson’s game-winning heave.
    9. New England Patriots: Defense needs LB Hightower and S Gregory back ASAP.
    10. Minnesota Vikings: Previously vaunted defense struggled to slow RG3, Redskins.
    11. Denver Broncos: Peyton, backup CBs Harris, Carter spark remarkable comeback win.
    12. San Diego Chargers: Colossal collapse on “MNF” not good for Turner’s job security.
    13. Pittsburgh Steelers: Let Titans game slip away, but division looks weaker.
    14. Philadelphia Eagles: LeSean McCoy has three TDs; had eight through six games in ’11.
    15. Arizona Cardinals: Jay Feely goes from hero to goat, and Skelton may regain QB reins.
    16. Miami Dolphins: Hottest team in the all-tied-up AFC East heading into their bye.
    17. Washington Redskins: RG3 works magic again; ’Skins get boost from Alexander.
    18. New York Jets: Ground-and-pound formula helped crush Colts. Will it work vs. Pats?
    19. Detroit Lions: Have scored 21 first-quarter points and 73 fourth-quarter points.
    20. Cincinnati Bengals: Back-to-back bad losses before hosting Steelers far from ideal.
    21. St. Louis Rams: Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein isn’t perfect, but 66-yarder had plenty of leg.
    22. Dallas Cowboys: Poor clock management, big Dez drop: Lather, rinse and repeat.
    23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rookie SS Barron quickly becoming impact player.
    24. Buffalo Bills: Mario, Bills’ D-line took advantage of shaky Cardinals’ O-line.
    25. New Orleans Saints: Bounties won’t go away, but appeal could get Vilma back.
    26. Indianapolis Colts: Had run defense exposed; hard to win with playmakers hurt.
    27. Tennessee Titans: Get favorable opponent — Bills allowed 153 to Johnson in ’11.
    28. Carolina Panthers: Surprise stat: have scored more than 12 points only twice.
    29. Oakland Raiders: Strong effort coming off the bye, but Palmer’s INT a big mistake.
    30. Cleveland Browns: WR Josh Gordon looks to be Brandon Weeden’s new best friend.
    31. Kansas City Chiefs: Only 12 carries for Jamaal Charles, and 11 for Shaun Draughn?
    32. Jacksonville Jaguars: London talk during the bye distracted from team’s struggles.

To be honest, I think the rankings are almost meaningless at this point of the season. In six weeks rankings will be more relevant. I think they have us too high at this point. That doesn't mean we won't earn the ranking over the course of the next 4 to 6 weeks. But right now I feel like we haven't really proven much. We have taken care of business and beat the teams we should beat.

    That's good.

But let's see where we're at after facing the 49ers, Houson, Minny, Seattle. And we need to continue to take care of business and beat Detroit on Monday night.

Yeah, I agree. Detroit is a team that can lull a team into thinking they have the game won - and then they come back and beat you. We need the Bears to keep playing hard all game. If anything, we need to step it UP that 4th quarter - and step on their throat.

This week will be VERY telling. The only game this season in which the Bears have scored ANY substantial points in the first half was the opener against Indianapolis. Hell, even against the Jaguars they went into the half tied at (3). Not to mention that the defense had contributed heavily in the last several games. I am not sold that the offense itself can carry the team if needed. I think if the Lions score early against the Bears, it is going to be a LONG game.

Their ST's is getting an easy pass b/c of how bad Garrett/Bryant are; but seriously none of that matters if they don't let Jacoby Jones get a KO return TD.

    FOX SPORTS NFL POWER RANKINGS

RK TEAM RECORD CHANGE HIGH/LOW COMMENTS
    1 Falcons
    6-0
    1
1/7 The Falcons are the sole unbeaten team in the NFL, but they've been taken to the wire by a pair of one-win teams. Still, there is something special going on in Atlanta for them to win the way they have the last two weeks.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    2 Ravens
    5-1
    4
2/6 It took a dropped 2-point conversion and a missed field goal after blown onside-kick coverage against Dallas, but a win is a win. This Ravens offense is underrated, but will need to carry the team after losing two key defenders in LB Ray Lewis and CB Lar
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    3 Texans
    5-1
    2
1/6 The Texans got their first true test on Sunday night against the Packers, and failed miserably. They gave up six passing touchdowns and 42 points, the most allowed in Wade Phillips' tenure as defensive coordinator.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    4 Bears
    4-1
    -
4/12 The team is inconsistent on offense, but it is hard to argue against a defense that has scored just as many touchdowns as it has given up.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    5 Giants
    4-2
    2
5/11 The Giants' win at San Francisco was the most impressive of the weekend, maybe even this season. The Giants absolutely dominated the 49ers, racking up 342 yards against a defense that was only giving up an average of 262 coming in.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    6 Packers
    3-3
    6
3/12 QB Aaron Rodgers is clearly back, but this is the same team that lost to the Colts the week before beating the Texans. Before I totally buy in again, I want to see them put it all together in back-to-back weeks.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    7 49ers
    4-2
    4
1/7 The 49ers gave up 116 yards rushing to Ahmad Bradshaw and only accumulated 80 yards on the ground of their own. This is a team that was averaging 195 yards rushing on the season.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    8 Seahawks
    4-2
    10
8/28 The Seahawks finally added the deep ball to their offensive arsenal. If Russell Wilson can complement the running game in the way he did against the Patriots, this team will be a tough out for any team that shows up on the other sideline.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    9 Patriots
    3-3
    4
1/12 The Patriots are .500 for the season at just 3-3, but I just can’t bring myself to rank a Tom Brady-led team any lower than this. They will bounce back next week against the division-rival Jets.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear
    10 Cowboys

6/15 What the Cowboys did in a loss to the Ravens was more impressive than what the Redskins did to the Vikings in a win. The Cowboys have too much talent on both sides of the ball for that to go unrecognized.

    11 Redskins

11/23 RG3 bounced back in a big way on Sunday, but I'm still concerned if he can hold up for all 16 games. Defensively, the Redskins are still feeling the effects of losing pass rusher Brian Orakpo for the year, and I'm not sure they match up very well against

9/29 The Vikings continue to play above expectations, even in a loss, but simply can’t afford to have QB Christian Ponder drop back 54 times in a game. That isn't the right formula for the Vikings.

11/17 Great comeback, or epic Chargers collapse, depending on how you look at it. But what's with the Broncos receivers having trouble in the open field? One week Demaryius Thomas fumbles the ball when no one is around him, and now Eric Decker mysteriously tri

9/16 Losing to the Titans in Week 6 may have been the most disappointing loss of the weekend for any team. The Steelers are now under .500 after five games for the first time in head coach Mike Tomlin's tenure.

1/15 The Eagles failed to record a sack in their third straight game and their offensive possession in overtime was embarrassing. If anyone can get this fixed during the bye week, it’s Andy Reid. But it needs to be a drastically different on-field product com

5/27 This is easily the worst offensive line in all of the NFL. Easily. It's not even close.

10/23 The Lions only converted on 3-of-13 third downs, committed 16 penalties and failed to score any points off of the three Eagles turnovers. Yet somehow the Lions still won.

17/27 Cornerback Antonio Rodgers-Cromartie was surprisingly effective against quicker WR Reggie Wayne, even if the Cards' CB did have two interception returns negated by pass-interference penalties.

8/19 QB Andy Dalton threw for a career-high 381 yards vs. the Browns, but his three interceptions were insurmountable.

12/20 Tale of two halves in San Diego on Monday night . . . the Chargers getting out to a 24-point halftime lead and then being outscored 35-0 in the second half. That is what six turnovers will do to you.

21/31 The Dolphins were outgained 462 to 192 for a difference of 270 yards Sunday vs. the Rams. That loses you the game 99 of 100 times, but this happened to be the one win.

    22 Saints

9/28 I anticipate that the Saints did some heavy self-scouting during their bye week, and a big part of that will be how to get RB Darren Sproles fully integrated into the offense like he was last year.

14/27 Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein had made all 13 attempts of his NFL career heading into Sunday. After making his first two kicks against the Dolphins, his final three misses ended up being the difference of the game.
