I agree w/soul on this one. Our ST's has been lacking and Bowman is an upgrade on ST's. The Bears no longer were interested in Williams(doesn't matter why now he's gone) so if he's not going to be active might as well get rid of him.
As for Unga, I don't think he ever stood much chance w/the Bears he was rarely if ever active and never used so no reason to keep him; now add onto that Tice's love of H-Backs over FB's and the kid was boned. I'm suprised he even made the PS.

Didn't watch the game last night so no. We may find out why they got bowman again tomorrow. The injury report is coming out, there may be some injury we don't know about.
Mark my words, we will get burned by bowman again, bad move IMO.
Also, getting rid of Clutts was foolish.

I hope the packers sign him.

There's already some news as far as injuries MM and as well as a probable reason why they signed Bowman.
Extra points: Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (fractured hand) and special teamers Blake Costanzo (thumb surgery) and Sherrick McManis (hip) did not practice Monday. Costanzo had six stitches removed from his thumb last Friday and he expects to return to practice this Friday. ... The Bears worked out former Colts cornerback Justin King, according to a source. He was a fourth-round pick of the Rams in 2008.
McManis may be hurt and out for a bit so bringing in Bowman to replace him on STeam coverage units is most likely what it's all about. Obviously they were looking at another CB as well. Unless we lose one of the starters and Hayden, Bowman will never see the field on defense.
He's not a good zone CB but he is a very good "gunner" and coverage man on the STeams units.

There is more to this story than is being made public.
He may have seen Tice having sex with Webb and had to go. Which would explain two head scratchers at once.

Cut.
We couldn't trade a 1st round draft pick, our most consistent starter from 2011 - for SOMETHING? Anything?
Forgive me on this, because I'm still angry that we let go another 1st round pick for nothing - in Cedric Benson, who goes on to average 1,100+ yards per year for YEARS after we cut him.
We got nothing for him. Not a ham sandwich for the guy.
Yet, we're told J'Marcus Webb is "The Answer" instead. Want a LT? Anybody can be coached up, even 7th round pick Webb. Cut the 1st round guy.
C.Will, at the very least SHOULD be a decent backup if he was our BEST olineman last year.
Right?
I'm not trying to be critical. I just don't understand any of this.
There was a time when I blindly told myself Jerry Angelo "knows best" and to "trust him"........now I'm telling myself the same thing with Emery. Just "trust him" he "knows best".....but boy, it's a head scratcher for me.

I'd venture to guess it was pretty much about attitude and a lack of effort by Chris. I don't think he wanted to be in Chicago any longer, not that I blame him, and he wanted to move on to another team where he could play and earn his next contract and that wasn't gonna happen under Mike Tice. Tice never did like the guy all that much, we know that.
Regardless of where he was drafted what kind of value would another team put on a backup OT/OG who wasn't even riding the pine? He was inactive for a couple of games. It's unlikely but they may have done that while they were trying to trade him so that he didn't get injured. Unless they're Pro-Bowl caliber guys OGs don't get you much to begin with even if they're starters and whoever trades a Pro Bowl lineman?
If you've got a guy who doesn't want to play for you taking up a spot on your 53 man roster and you have a rookie you stole as an UDFA sitting on your PS where he might get stolen back by some other team and that guy is fighting every week to get a shot at being on that 53 man roster I think you have to go with that.
My guess is that just like Kahlil Bell, CWill wanted out so he could play for a 2013 contract somewhere. If it was me I would. So maybe he went to them and asked them to let him go and they accommodated him. Just sayin'.

That's my take on it too.

I'm not sure that's true. I remember reading that Williams and a few other players were actually doing some pretty extensive off-season routines and that Webb in fact was the one missing. I would say that from that reading (only one data point) that Williams was in fact working hard to be sure he was in shape and doing the right things.
I just don't know on this one. Something was up for sure though.

The Chris "short arms" Williams experiment from the Angelo days are over.
Lets move on.

In the preseason and before camp I believe that was true but despite that houston he never really got a fair shot at things once camp and preseason began. After he couldn't take the LT spot away from Webb then Tice refused to even give him back his starting spot at LG. There's no way Spencer would have outplayed him if he'd been given his spot back. Based on his play last year I think he deserved that much but they never even threw him that bone.
Now after benching him they deactivate the guy for two games as well? I think he just wanted out and a chance to start over somewhere else. I mean how mishandled and mistreated can one guy get?
Geez, I'd be pissed too. It's like your wife refusing to have sex with you but then she starts having an affair in your house, in your bed and makes you sleep on the couch. Then as if that isn't enough when her lover forgets his condoms she makes you drive to the drug store to pick some up for them.
