Stock Watch: Who's rising. Who's falling.

Carimi is going to get Cutler hurt if he doesn't get his act together. I'm watching the game again for the 3rd night. Carimi looks lost. He gave up a complete whiff on Suh, AFTER the body slam whiff. If Suh had really wanted to end Cutler's season - he could have easily done it on that play but he pulled up (no thanks to Carimi).

Our TE's need to step it up too.

If we get on the goal line again, Tice needs to pound the rock with Bush hitting that left side of our line behind Rachal and Webb. I think Tice had a brain fart last game passing 3 times like he did.

Stock Watch: Forte finding his rhythm

    RISING

    1. Charles Tillman, CB: Placed the handcuffs on Detroit's Calvin Johnson on Monday, locking him down for 3 catches and 34 yards despite Matthew Stafford targeting him 11 times. Johnson didn't even finish in the Lions' top three in receptions or yardage. Tillman also forced two fumbles, with the performance leading to national recognition as NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

    2. Matt Forte, RB: Off to a slow start in 2012 after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2, Forte put together his first 100-yard rushing game on Oct. 7, and followed that up with 96 yards in the win over the Lions. Having finished with back-to-back games of 20-plus attempts, Forte seems to be finding a rhythm that should serve the Bears well in the coming games.

    3. Brandon Marshall, WR: Marshall averages 96.2 yards per game, and leads the team with 577 yard. Marshall continues to produce at a record-setting pace. If Marshall continues his current production, he'll finish the season with a career-high 1,538 receiving yards, which would rank as the most in franchise history. Marshall's three 100-yard receiving games thus far are already tied for the most since 2006 (Muhsin Muhammad).

    FALLING

    1. Matt Toeaina, DT: After starting the first game of the season, Toeaina has been inactive for four of the club's six outings, which casts doubt on his long-term future with the team. In the games he's played, Toeaina has contributed just three tackles, and it's apparent the team prefers defensive tackles with pass-rushing skills such as Henry Melton and second-year man Stephen Paea, as opposed to players better suited to stop the run.

    2. Evan Rodriguez, TE: Activated for Monday's matchup with the Lions after missing two games because of a sprained knee, Rodriguez didn't play as the club opted to use other players in his spot. The club's decision to not play Rodriguez might be a sign that he hasn't yet returned to full health. Given the staff's expectations for Rodriguez upon drafting him, it's discouraging to see he hasn't yet lived up to them.

    3. Gabe Carimi, RT: Offensive coordinator Mike Tice raves about the effort Carimi displays, but doesn't mince words about the right tackle's struggles. In 75 snaps against the Lions, Carimi gave up a quarterback hit and a pressure, in addition to being flagged twice for penalties. Through six games he's been responsible for more hits (5) on Cutler than any other player on the offensive line.

I wouldn't shut the door just yet on big Toe. A few games of being gashed on run D and he'll be in favor again. Hell, we've yet to see Collins rotate into the lineup. I'm hoping we see both as the season wears on as a strategy of the continuing platooning of D-linemen.

you should stop your Carimi hate...

3 out of 75 snaps were bad for Cutler. That's 96% of the snaps were he did his job. +he had 2 holding penaltys that both can be said were BS calls.
5 Hits in 6 games is nothing to get worried about. Webb alone was responsible for letting GB hit Cutler 5 times in Week2. Eyes won't lie

Carimi will come around. He's still basically a rookie whose learning that colleg techniques don't work as well in the pros. Too many DEs just as good as your are and some better.

I think it was shorty who said he gets some free passes until he reaches the point that he's rated as the worst OT in the NFL. So far I don't think he's on track for that just yet.

Toe played when we faced Jax and the marching order was to stop the run and MJD. He'll play again if that happens but otherwise it's a passing league and the best rushers are gonna play. In that regard he couldn't even trump Collins.

He's still a very good ball player but he has his limitations as a pass rusher. Looking at it from the bright side of the road Paea has become all we've expected of him so far. He's getting pressure up the middle, collapsing the pocket, getting sacks and playing the run pretty well too. Best all around NT we've had in many a moon.

ERod isn't a FB and it's time that experiment ended and they started throwing to him as advertised when he was drafted. Let Adams and Eldridge battle it out for that FB/TE spot. They have the size for it whereas ERod doesn't.

Peanut has become one of the smartest DBs in the game. He's got all the tools of a great CB. He's drawing up on Woodson territory now and that's saying something because that dude can or in this case could play. The Pack is gonna miss him until he can return. Big loss there.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

    1. I love having him on our team.

    2. There is no question he will be a solid olineman.

    3. He is, however, struggling. If you don't think so, then that's fine. We can "agree to disagree" on that.

yes, he is struggling but no, he plays not as bad as you make him out to be. You try to bring him down every chance you have. Want some prove? Just look at your OP here and tell me what player you have highlighted. Just read the rest of your posts.

You make him out to be the worst OL Player in the NFL that will get Cutler killed FOR SURE

Big Toe will be useful against the Texans.

I'm surprised to not see Hester's name in the list as he was benched in the return game against Detroit, which is his bread and butter.

Carimi will be fine. Just stay home and block inside-out thats all a RT has to do.

Evan Rodriguez was over-hyped to begin with, I wouldn't say his stock is falling as much as it is "correcting" itself. I can't see him being on the team next year unless KD shits the bed or something, which could happen.

You bring up a good point. I did go back an re-read my OP. And you are right. That was overly harsh. I say this because I am 100% happy we have Carimi. I had just watched the game (I've watched it three nights now), and it made me angry to watch him struggle - and I just want to keep Cutler healthy this season. It was scary to see the one hit on Cutler, thinking of how we have to do better protecting him. And, I do believe Carimi is the guy struggling the most on our oline right now.

I don't think he's a bad player. Just a young guy struggling to adapt to the NFL.

But I do admit you have a good point. I was a bit over-the-top with that OP. Sorry about that.

This implies Kellen Davis is not currently shitting the bed, which I think he is and has been for the past few years he's been on this team.
