Thread: Rodriguez Looks Get More Playing Time..............

I don't know about you guys but I'm putting this under the heading of WTF is up with that.

Rodriguez has yet to catch a ball or rush with it in his first year playing fullback after beginning his career at tight end.

According to Tice we drafted this kid to be an "HBack" and a "Move TE" but I've yet to see him being used that way. He's being used in the same role as we used Clutts last year and he's nowhere near as capable of doing that job as he was.

At 6'2" and 238lbs this kid isn't even built like a blocking back so what's going through Tice's mind on this one? He has Kyle Adams who at 6'4" and 255lbs is more physically suited for it and we just added this kid Eldridge who looks to me like he's even more suited for it and wants the job. So what keeps Tice putting ERod in that role?

Why did we draft and keep a roster position for a pass catcher and then not throw to him even once in six games? I think this is another classic example of trying to get something out of a guy he's not suited to do. ERod is the FB version of Devin Hester playing out of position.

What do you all think about this?

He was a weird guy to watch at training camp. He really didn't look like a TE. He looked more like a 6'2" slow WR to me. I'm not knocking the guy here. He just doesn't look like a good blocker to me (although I've read where others think he is a solid blocker).

He did show good hands at camp. But heck, K.Davis looked like a GREAT receiving TE at camp, and he's been pretty quiet as a receiver during the season. So who knows...

I keep telling myself the coaches aren't stupid (seriously), so there must be more to this guy than I'm seeing.

Rodriguez can take some of K.Davis snaps. Any little extra in the passing game until AJ returns is good for the O imo. I have NO idea why Rodriguez is being pimped at FB.

But seriously, Rodriguez could come in handy right now since we don't have Jeffery in the lineup. I was wondering about Rodriguez just the other day, on why Tice hasn't been using this valuable "commodity" that he insisted Phil Emery draft him to be for him. Sometimes, I wonder what is going in that bonehead of a chrome dome sitting on Tice's shoulders. When will Lovie Smith ever stand up to his offensive coordinator and just tell him what he wants him to do with his players? Isn't that Lovie's call rather than Tice's? Tice is merely repeating the same mistakes that Martz made over the previous two years. Strangely, I am beginning to think that that Midway Monsters has placed a curse over our dearly Beloved.
