How Good Does the Marshall Trade Look Right Now?
How good does that trade look right now? Here are the numbers:
44 receptions for 577 yards and 4 touchdowns in 6 games. He's catching 62% of the passes coming his way and an even higher percentage of catchable balls.
The kicker: WE GOT HIM FOR TWO 3rd ROUND DRAFT PICKS!
Go Phil Emery! Honestly that is like stealing at this point. I don't want to jynx it and hopefully BM doesn't have personality issues on or of the field with us, if he doesn't this is one of the best QB/WR duos in the league.
I was a skeptic of Marshall's early on and he is proving me wrong. I'll gladly eat crow on this one!

He has been a positive influence in the locker room also, the young WRs like Jeffries are learning what a NO.1 WR does.

Now we just need to get Long from them.
Marshall is on the way to his best season ever.

Another good point! There'll come a time when Jeffery will be expected to take over that spot that Marshall now holds and from all that I've seen Marshall has been very generous in giving help to the rookie. I think that's just one of many reasons why Jeffery progressed as well as he has as a rookie. We could sure use him back right now too.
I had to laugh about a thread I put up where the ESPN Chicago guys were discussing the effect of losing Greg Olsen and one or two were trying to make a case for that hurting the Bears passing game. Then Michael C. Wright came along and made them look like fools by reminding everyone that it was the pick from the Olsen trade that we used to trade for Marshall, LOL.
Sure give me back a TE whose strictly a receiver and can't block worth crap versus and All Pro WR on target for well over 1200 yards receiving, 8-10 TDs and who can block down field with the best of them. LOL Why in the world would I want that guy over a TE like Greg Olsen.
Some of these writers just can't connect the dots can they.

Totally agree, I've been saying this since the beginning of the season and everyone thought I was crazy. Who cares about a receiver type TE like Olsen when you have a guy like Marshall on the line.
Olsen has never even posted a 700 yard season while Marshall has 3 1k plus seasons under his belt. I think we got the better of that Olsen deal in the end.
Don't get me wrong I have much love for Olsen and if we could get him back I would take him in a heart beat, provided we didn't give up too much.
And people are giving me a hard time in other threads for saying essentially the same thing.

Our problem right now MM is that while Davis COULD be every bit as effective a pass catcher in this offense as Olsen so far he's NOT BEEN. Still he's a far better blocker despite some of the criticism that's been tossed his way.
I don't see him whiffing on guys and some of those blocks that announcers have claimed he missed are questionable. Do they really know what his assignment was? No, or probably not. Anyway the kid can block far better than Olsen ever could. He's proven that.
I want to see him running more seam routes and curls and forcing Safeties and LBs to cover him. He runs those well and it will take that 8th man out of the box often enough that it may help the run game even more. Tice needs to make better use of his TEs in the passing game than he has.
Davis and ERod should both start seeing the ball more.

I love that we've got Bmarsh. I remember long ago on here many didn't want him b/c his issues. Glad Emery knew or guessed right on him. As far as Davis at least when he DOES catch a pass he doesn't collapse like a jenga kit when he's touched like Olsen.

when hasn't this trade looked as a steal? It was a steal when it was made official. Everybody that expected something different should read what I have to say more often

Would have paid more than those 2 3rds for him

Jerry would have never made this trade unless it was on a defensive player.
