It would be a dumb call for the Panthers to fire Rivera. The Panthers have issues, but they are a better team then their record indicates. Except for the 36-7 beatdown the Giants gave em, their losses have been between 1-6 points. Their problem is simply they do not know how to close games. The only defensive coordinator I would possibly rather have than Rod Marinelli would be Chico. The guy was able to master both a 4-3 and a 3-4 defense and make them work. Marinelli is good, but Chico also has Chicago pedigree. He played on those great defensive units of the 1980s and early 1990s and played well, so he is well aware of the tradition of great defenses this franchise has put together over the course of time.
