I don't mind taking a deep shot early, it stretches the D and opens up the short stuff. But do it wisely.

I think we wore out our welcome with taking deep shots early, because that's exactly what's expected of us. If, in a few games we get things going, then yeah, i'm all for it.
Okay guys, I'm going to throw my two cents in here but I want to make a disclaimer first.
Disclaimer: I have been totally against the Tice move from day one. There is a reason he was fired as HC from Minny; he can't control his players (party boat) and he was selling tickets to the super bowl (that right there should prove the guy is kind of an idiot). My opinion is that Mike
Tice is f$&*ing us over this season, bad. This team was good last year, really good. Injuries and lack of personnel held us back last year. With that fixed (and it is) I believe this is a dream job for any OC. That being said I think he is an amazing OL coach and did a great job last year with our guys, they started playing great around this time last year. Having Tice as OC hurts us in two ways, he isn't our OL coach anymore (something he is awesome at) and he is calling plays for us (something he is terrible at). For those of you blaming it on it being his first year as OC, you are wrong, go wiki his resume... he was asst. head coach/oc in jax for 3 or 4 years.
With that out of the way, this offense is terrible. Tice's montra is "get better at something each week" or "work on your craft and get a little better each week." Those of you that have followed his press conferences have heard him say this many times. O.K. Tice, lets apply that to what we see in games. First, your play calling has gotten worse and worse each week. Second, you are forcing the ball to Marshall way too much, not getting better at that either are ya? Your game plans are always pretty bad. So you have improved at nothing each week, good job Tice.
Now lets look at your players, some of them are really good and don't need to improve all that much i.e. Bush/Forte/Cutler/Marshall/Bennett/Jeffery. So it seems like your work is kind of already done for you on the offensive side of the ball, maybe with the exception of Jeffery but thats what you have a receivers coach for. So really the only guys you have to coach-up each week are your lineman and that gaggle of Tight Ends you have on the roster for no F^%^ing reason. How can you explain the use of all those guys.... I digress. Back to the Montra thing, your O-line has not improved each week at anything and your TE's are "WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE" (thanks Denny Green, thank you forever!). No one is improving so your bulls#$t montra is not having an effect on anyone save the media who's eyes you have pulled the wool over. For some reason the media loves Tice, if any other OC put up the bull-crap games that Tice did they would get run out of town.
At this point, with how bad that OL played last week we need to run the ball 40 times a game. Speaking of running lets look at something real quick. Last season, missing 4 games Forte had 1500 all purpose yards, pretty bad@ss imho. This season he is projected to have 1300 all purpose yards in 16 games, WTF TICE!! That is compared to an OC that got run out of town for not running the ball more, among other things.
Now lets look at something else about running:
-->Huston, San Francisco, New England, NYG, all have top offenses and GUESS WHAT TICE?!? THEY ALL HAVE TOP 10 RUSHING OFFENSES.
Run the damn ball Tice, nothing more to say about it.
I could go on but I have to get back to work, Suck it TICE!
We need to run this guy out of town guys
I'm going to address a few things, in no particular order...
1) Tice is not forcing the ball to Marshall, Cutler is, for a variety of reasons. Tice merely calls the play, Cutler is the one who decides who to throw to as the play unfolds.
2) Game Theory and Game Philosophy. These terms are overlooked by a good portion of fans. You say run the ball more, well it's not that easy. If you run the ball twice (first time for 12 and the second time for -1), omg you're averaging 5.5 YPC, keep running the ball idiot... except, it's now 2nd and 11... this is why Game Theory and Game Philosophy are important, you cannot just look at the overall stats, you have to put things into context/perspective (such as field position, ball location in reference to the hashes, down & distance, game clock, score, etc...).
3) Football is a game of individual battles. You can call a perfect play for the situation, but if too many of your players lose their individual battles (hell sometimes it just takes a single player to lose their battle by a lot), the play will fail. Players need to execute and coaches need to set their players up to be successful.
We can question the play-calling and we can question the player execution, but ultimately, the Bear's offensive struggles are a combination of both. For instance, the Cutler pick against Carolina could have very well been a TD if Cutler executed better (throwing it a little farther and/or higher). That was a good play-call that just didn't get executed properly. On the flip-side, we've all witnessed a bad play-call that a player turns into something, like a run off-tackle that gets stuffed at the point of attack and the RB bounces it outside for a positive gain.
Here's my take, the Bears' players are not executing well and the play-calling isn't doing them any favors by creating mismatches that will help the players execute at a higher percentage.
its hard to not force it to marshal when we have an oc that calls one wr routes lol still dont get it
Don't need excuses when your QB isn't at 100%. Our O was average until Suh wanted to end Cutlers season. Now it looks worse. In the end, we are 6-1. This is what I need to know. Is this enough to beat the Texans or 9ers? Could be yes, could be no. We will see it in 2-3 weeks
You mean like after we get them biting on stopping those short slants we used Sunday to set up that last FG.
Ya' know you're 100% correct but the problem is Tice has his priorities turned around. Instead of waiting to get the run established to set up the passing game and using short passes to spring guys loose for the deep throw he wants to do it the other way around.
The long and short of it is that he tinkers too much. He's got all these "toys", as Cutler called them in preseason, and it's like he wants to pick them up and play with all of them at once. He needs to just figure out what's working first and then stick with it until the other guys find a way to stop it from working. In the case of the Carolina game I think he could have run that ball all day long and they couldn't have stopped it.
Guys I know my last post in this thread was kind of a rant, but i think my point about his montra is true. If you are preaching "get better at something each week / work on your craft" and we look as fans and we don't see that, then he isnt getting the job done. Not on any level. Nothing to do with being a rookie (which he is not, idk where we all got that idea).
Also he is forcing the ball to Marshall on certain plays. That int play he was the only receiver, it was a single receiver play, forced to Marshall in triple coverage.
Here is another thing I don't get: you guys are blaming Cutler this year (or at least giving him some responsibility) and last year everything was because Martz was an idiot. I don't get it, Tice is 10x worse in my mind and people are so reluctant to blame him for anything.
So on second and 11 you run again and you pick up your 5 or 6 yards. Now its 3rd & 5 or 6, you are in the position to A. pass or B. run. Maybe even misdirection or cutback run, or everyones favorite: play action pass. With the kind of skill position players we have we should be able to do this type of thing.
I hate to belabor your example and I know the exact numbers are just being used to illustrate your point, and you do have a point. But we can't gash them in the opening drive like that and then turn around and throw the ball 45 times. We were never down by that much. Why get away from the run?
Like Lovie says, stop the run and run the football. If we had lost some of these games I guarantee you Lovie would have taken it away from him by now. The ease of our schedule has masked a lot of offensive problems. The Panthers moved the ball well on us (Steve Smith should have caught that touchdown) and you'd be crazy to think other teams wont go to school on them. This defense will start giving up more points the longer the season goes on. The offense needs to get its shit together and with Tice running around smiling like a retard farting in the bathtub and laughing his ass off its not going to happen.
TICE: "Uhhhh.... I ben in this leage 30 years and neva ben pat of a supah bow."
Ya well now we know why, F&^%ing Clown!
