as of now... how much Cap Space do we have for next season?
How much with Melton signed?

Depends. What are going to sign them for?

I'm just glad we didn't pop on Mario Williams. Get Melton re-signed soon and Urlacher can wait.

As it stands the cap excess is estimate at around $15 mil give or take 10%.
There's no way of answering the other parts of your question though since there aren't even any offers on the table. I don't think we'll see much talk about that right now while we're still in a fight for the playoffs. Maybe after we've clinched a spot but not before. They want guys focusing on football right now and not finance.

Well sooner or later we'll have to address both since both are in their contract years. I doubt signing either first will have any affect on the other. We need to extend both of them.

I'm wondering what will happen with Hester. Didn't he get a fairly fat contract last time? We're sure not getting much out of him this season.
Brian Urlacher

Yeah, but I think he's mostly incentives. He's not meeting them. When's Cutler's contract up? He's the guy we'll need cap space for.

Yep, as a WR he's getting about the same basic salary as Bennett is. He gets a big roster bonus pretty much based on his return skills but that's easily renegotiated if they want to keep him around and he wants to stay.

let me ask the question in a different way...
as of now, how much Cap Space will we have in the the Offseason? Possible to keep Urlacher & Melton + sign Clady or Long?

The honest answer is, I'm not sure anyone really knows an accurate figure right now. Usually, I tend to find that information out in the media when they report it (how else will we know), and no one has reported anything for next year that I know of. Besides, the whole contract issues for over 50 players is a dynamic matrix that takes some real time to dissect, so I don't know of anyone that can tell you where we stand right now.
