The other people are open. Jay just doesn't seem to want to throw to them. Which makes me wonder if Cutler is "doing his own thing" to a certain extent, and not caring what Tice wants. Cutler wants to pass. He wants to pass deep. He wants to pass to B.Marsh. End of story.
Throw to Hester and he misses repeatedly, or is on the wrong route. Throw to kd lang and he misses unless he's on his back. Throw to Spaeth wait, what? Is Sanz on the field? Who's Weems? Not many choices there. I can understand why he's only looking to Marshall.

Man we need Alshon back. I think his absence is the reason our offense is struggling. Without him, Marshall gets double or triple teamed, the other guys ca't get open.

Regarding the poll, Tice is a rookie OC. He's learning. I just wish he would learn to run the damn ball already.

It's the old Ali "Rope a Dope" and we're letting the league believe we're clueless on offense. Village idiots so to speak. But just wait until Tice unleashes the Hester Package. It will dominate the entire NFL for decades to come...

Here is a secret pic of the Hester Package being discussed at Halas Hall by Lovie and the boys:

Only thing that could make this post better is a crudely photoshopped picture of Lovie and Tice discussing something on the left hand side of this picture.

Can someone please help us out with that, I don't know how to do it or else I would.

right now we are a top 10 O in both points and avg pts per game. hard to want to replace a guy doing that; no matter how awkward it looks.

Also right now the O is passing about 56% of the time(taking the qb runs of the rushes and back into the passes b/c few if any where designed) That's just a on the high end for Tice which tells me Bates/Cutler have some say in what is going on already.

Like someone pointed out biggest problem is Cutler isn't willing to goto the open man; he'd rather force the ball to Marshal then find an open guy he doesn't trust. Just need to get Cutler to throw the ball away if nothing is there instead of taking a sack; and get him to be more open about finding other WR's not named marshal.

Anyhoo. I think if this past game, along with several other ones don't fix things, unfortunately an embarassing loss in the next few weeks will. I believe he will have his stuff together by the end of the season, into the playoffs

Midway, I see your point. He is a very experienced coach. He's even been an OC and head coach. So "rookie" isn't accurate. But he is new to this offense and group of players. I expected it would take a few games as OC to knock off some rust and get a feel for what this group of players could, and could not do. To me that seemed reasonable. But now he's had a number of games under his belt, and he should have a solid idea of this offense, and what works & what doesn't work.

I look at this offense and see plenty of talent. I grouch about the oline, but it seems "good enough" that you can't blame all of our woes on the oline. It's the play calling that is hurting the offense now. Every team in the NFL has a less-than-perfect set of player resources. That's why you tailor your game to what you have. And, part of that is play calling that fits your existing team's strengths, while limiting the effect of your weaknesses.

Maybe I'm dense, but it just doesn't seem like this should still be a problem with Tice at this point of our season.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I think we also have to remember that the O was looking at little better w/Alshon in there, I would assume it will start to move a little smoother when he gets back.

That right there in a nutshell is something that I have thought about several times. Cutler has been able to get rid of Martz (not single-handedly, but I'm sure played a part). He has been able to get Marshall over here. He had a hand in getting Bates over here. Tice knows the influence Cutler had on Martz. I just wonder of Cutler just kind of does what he wants. He is able to audible, so how much of these throw vs run decisions are being made by coaches and how much by Cutler? That is a question that I would love to get the answer to.

My sincerest apologies, I did not know that. I am humbled in your presence. Thank you for pointing out how omniscient you are. Time and time again. And rampant condescension is why I left another board to come here damn it.

So did he call plays as an assistant head coach with Jacksonville? Please enlighten me. And please don't quote wiki again. I'm interested, because this article says he was their Tight Ends coach when he interviewed here and took our O-line coaching position.

Tice in Chicago to interview with Bears, Del Rio says

The Jaguars assistant could be under consideration to be the Bears' offensive coordinator.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio (right) said that Jaguars tight ends coach Mike Tice (left) was in Chicago on Wednesday to interview with the Bears.

Jacksonville assistant head coach Mike Tice appears to be in the mix for an offensive coordinator’s job elsewhere, according to Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, who said Tice was in Chicago on Wednesday to interview for a position with the Bears.

Currently in charge of Jacksonville’s tight ends, Tice joined the Jaguars in 2006 after spending 2001-05 as Minnesota’s head coach.

Chicago is reportedly in the process of trying to fill multiple openings on the offensive staff, which means Tice could be in line for a position as the coordinator, tight ends coach or offensive line coach.

It’s likely that Tice is interviewing for the coordinator position, given he’s already a position coach with the Jaguars. According to reports, the Bears interviewed Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese and former Rams h
