Loved the breakdown and ways to use the RB's at the same time.
I have not been paying attention as much as I should, but the "chalk talk" did make sense to me. I do wonder though, how many Bush/Forte sets have the Bears actually used this year? I don't have a clue. (yeah, wise asses I gave you an easy "in")
Thanks HB!!
The chalk talk is mostly from the perspective of what I would do as the coach of the team... But this season I've seen the Bears use it sparingly. I'm a firm believer in getting the best personnel on the field at the same time
They've used it sparingly, because the OL struggles without help. Many times Cutler has pressure before he even finishes his drop with only the OL blocking.
I'm all for getting the best personnel on the field at the same time too, but when you have glaring weaknesses, you sometimes have to rob Peter to pay Paul. If the OL was better, you could sacrifice some blocking skills on other players to become more aggressive... unfortunately that isn't the case though, which is why the Bears cannot realistically use Forte and Bush at the same time. At least with a 3rd WR over a 2nd HB, you take a defender out of the box and having one less capable blocker becomes less of an issue.
Cutler never throws the quick passes to the rbs tho. Get them out in the flats, or a curl pattern quickly, and it can be done. The whole reason Big Ben is having such a great year is that Todd Haley worked with him on getting the ball out ASAP. Their line is no better than ours...
