With our powerful defense & ST's, just how much offense do we need?
We need a decent offense, I understand that, but do we need a great offense this year to win? How much offense DO we need?
I'm beginning to think we at least need an offense that doesn't give games away with picks, turnovers & Cutler fumbles. I'd love to have a top offense, but do we need one to win?
What do you guys think?

ask me that after we face GB a 2nd time, Hou and SF. if we are at 3-0 or 2-1 w/the O still sputtering as bad as against Car we'll be fine. If we are 1-2 or worse then we have issues.

Yea, this. Can't really add anything else.

All we need is an offense that can score more points than our defense allows. It's that simple.
Against most teams, I'd be happy with an offense that ranks around #10. That would be huge considering our historical average. Anywhere from 15 - 10 would be better than anything I remember. Against Green Bay? I want to have a #1 Offense, a #1 Defense and a #1 Special teams. I want to beat them 45 - 0. For 12 years in a row. Payback.

Sure would be nice to have the top flight O we have all been expecting since Marshall got here. There have been some flashes of potential, plus some nice fat duds. We need to be bringing it a little more by the time the post-season gets here.

ST (Hester) needs to kick into high gear. If that happens I'd say were fine.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Well....we did get the ball at the 40 a handful of times vs a bad defense and did nothing with it. While it would be nice for Hester to get us to mid-field or even close to the opponents red zone, you shouldnt have to get that kind of return production to get good offense.
To the OP, i dont think they need a lot. I was pretty convinced last season that this team will never have a top flight offense. Like posters above said, we'll know better once we play a few of the good defenses. But i will say that this team needs to find a way to put points on the board early. That first QTR vs DET kind of production. Maybe not the 10 points but if you can get 7 and a few time consuming drives, youre on your way. I forgot who said it but someone made a great point on the radio the other day about how important its going to be to get this offense going because of how old the defense is. Its going to catch up to them later on in the season.

The d is playing at an unsustainable level (both cbs look to be all pros), not to say they will fall far, but we need the offense to score around 20 from here on out. The D wont be able to stay nearly as good if they dont

We need to use the offense more effectiv, to keep their offense from the field, if we can do that then the few chances our opponets have they'll face a hell of a good defense and might walk away with 3 and out.
Kill da clock better and the offense is fine as long as our defense can keep up the good work. I'm excited to see how our defense will do when we face Packers/SF/Houston.

I have to agree. As good as the defense is, there's no way they can be expected to keep scoring a TD or two per week. The offense and STs MUST PICK IT UP. We aren't going to beat higher quality teams scoring 13 points purely on O.
