Bears top rated rushing defense about to get serious tests
The Bears have the number 1 ranked rushing defense in the league. They have only given up 1 rushing TD on the year, and have given up an average of 77.9 rushing yards per game.
But, in the coming weeks, they will be put to the test.
Week 9 @ Titans
Chris Johnson has been on a roll the past three weeks and looks close to unstoppable. He faced Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Indy. Not great defenses, outside of Pitts... but he is a hot running back who could have a good day.
Week 10 vs. Texans
Adrian Foster, the third ranked back in yards per game.
Week 11 @ 49ers
Frank Gore, the sixth ranked back in yards per game
Week 12 vs. Vikings
Adrian Peterson, the first ranked back in yards per game
Week 13 vs Seattle
Marshawn Lynch, the second ranked back in yards per game
Week 14 @ Minnesota
Again, Adrian Peterson, the first ranked back in yards per game
These next six weeks will go a long way to showing us how good our run defense really is

Chris Johnson along with Britt & Washington @ Wr. Thats the end of the Titans. Remember the Titans.

Going to be fun to see what rank the Bears are in rushing defense onces these game has been played. There is certain a different between a rank 32 and a rank 1 runner, but I think our defense would handle it as we expect it which is imo that we don't give up to many rushing yards and TD but will give up more what he have done so far.

CJ is a concern for me,he is not a type of back the Bears have faced much.
This guy is a threat to take it to the house, every time he gets the ball.
Take him out of the game early, score first and then often;reducing his carries.
We know some of the defense is getting older, the less they are on the field, the better.
This defense is great when rested, but they show fatigue if on the field for too long.
Tired "D" versus CJ,CJ wins is my bet.
Keep him bottled up,or off the field.

Bears Rush defense has not looked too good these past three weeks. Play time is over, and they do not look that good after all.

Unless it was a urine test, I don't think we did well...

Three weeks later, facing the first three good backs all season, the Bears have plummeted to the 8th best run defense.
Where oh where will they be after facing Adrian Peterson twice (top rusher) and Lynch (second best) in the next three weeks?

Part of the problem is that Urlacher is a mere shadow of his former self. He's lost more than a step. He's slow. He misses tackles. This has hurt our run defense more than anything.
He'll make some good plays at times, but in-between these, he is not looking anything like the Brian Urlacher we've watched play all these years.
It's like Brian KNOWS what to do, but can't get his body to react quick enough, and he lacks the incredible speed he once had to get to the ball. Then when he gets there, he isn't able to tackle as well as he used to. If you watch him, he has great technique (still) but not the power he once had to take runners out.
It's really really sad to watch.

Exactly. I hate to say it, but the Urlacher era is over. His presence on the field to recognize the plays is great, but we can't continue to play with 10 men on the field, with one only being there to be a play caller. Maybe turn him into a defensive coach next year (assuming he can recognize plays from the sidelines as well as he can on the field).
