Were our expectations unrealistically too high for this offense?
Even though we've played some of the softer teams in the NFL. ight now Cutler has a QB rating of 78. He and Romo, Vick & Gabbert are about the same. Our offense is 26th in the NFL right now (LINK).
The defense has carried the team to 6-1, but obviously, the offense looks disappointing. Were our expectations just too high for this offense this year? Or can they still become the powerful offense we envisioned?
I'm not advocating this, but if we continue to falter on offense, and if we can't match up with the "good" teams we're about to face after Sunday, do you think we could see Jason Campbell?

I think there is still a chance we can get it together I think part of the problem is not only the loss of Jeffery but our O-Line is still in shambles so that isn't helping either. Though the line is getting better.

I definitely think that our defense is either lights out or had to play lights out to make up for the woeful offense we have right now. I'm hoping that things can turn around for the bears offensively and that the team continues to play good defense and remains healthy for the rest of the season. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing the Bears ram the football down the throats of our opponents the rest of the year including those filthy rats the Packers....

Tired of being a tackling dummy......

As a Bears fan my expectations of our offense always default to zero. I have suffered through season after season of inept qbs, play calling, receivers, and now offensive lines.
The only reason I expected anything at all was because dip-shit Tice opened his big mouth and called for "explosiveness."
Well gues what Tice, Marshall isn't randy moss and cutler isn't daunte culpepper, neither of the guys we have are anywhere near that good. Trying to run your offense through a wide receiver is like trying to run an Nba offense through a spot up three point shooter like jj reddick, or Steve Kerr, or Paxton, or someone like that. It doesn't happen because it doesn't work, with 30 years of nfl experience you think Tice would know that. It worked much better when we ran the offense through forte like we have for at least the past two years. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I agree with what you said in another post jabf, I'm looking for the offense to stomp Tennessee tomorrow and If they don't , this is as good as its getting this season.

Maybe Tice is just "playing possum" and just waiting for that perfect moment to unleash the long fabled "Hester Package" we've heard about. It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. The stuff of legends.

On a serious note, do you guys ever wonder if there really was a "Hester Package" and if so, what it was? It's almost an urban legend.

Reading that thread about "outside pressure" to draft a popular player makes me feel, that on some level, devin is being thrown into this offense too much. It's okay when we have only one superior wr (bennett), but when we have 3, it seems like at some level above oc, he's being on the field beyond his known useful purpose. With that said, we have 2 multi talented rb's and 3 wr's that would start on any team in the nfl. We have a qb that has shown better play with lesser talent, but something indelible is missing here. It isn't just the o-line, which at its current talent level is never far from ceiling, nor floor. I believe it is all in the lack of "surprise". If i were a defensive coordinator, i would cover marshall as best as possible, and attack the qb every opportunity. I'll know our offense has met its potential when i can't predict the majority of offensive plays run.

Lol yea, they are just sandbagging us. Saving the really lethal stuff for when we play the texans and San Fran.
I hear the league won't let them roll out the HESTER PACKAGE until they instal seat belts in all the stadiums. Can't have the fans getting blown away like that!!

LOL .... great post.
Maybe Goodell has secretly outlawed the "Hester Package" as giving the Bears an unfair advantage. It was just too lethal.
It was probably something crazy, like Cutler shooting Hester out of a cannon....

Maybe a "player safety issue" too.
