Also, Spaeth and Rodriguez are really bad blockers. Rodriguez is a rookie, and not very big (about 235 pounds) so he gets owned by linemen. Spaeth is a big man. He's a veteran. He should be a MUCH better blocker. He got owned today.
Especially since the main reason we got spaeth was to block but since last season all I see him do is miss blocks. Can't keep throwing him out there last season his miss block put forte on the ir

Quite disapointed with him so far, but give him some time after all you can argue that he is still in his rookie season. To early to tell if he gonna pan out, but if he doesn't improve in this or the next season then we have a problem.

Carimi has yet to fill the bucket of fail that Webb has filled. 2 knee surgeries and yes still a rook-IT MATTERS.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Webb was far worse than Carimi. Guy is inconsistent as hell, but it's basically his rookie year. Give him time. The right side did a good job most of the time. Almost all the big plays had great blocking on the right side with Louis and Carimi. If you only look at the bad snaps he had, it's true. If you look at the whole game you will see that Carimi did his job for about 92-95% of the game. Those 92-95% of the time are not interesting because you don't really see what he did. I had way more moments yesterday with Webb and Rodriguez where I thought please god, Cutler deserves better than that
This 92-95% is a nice made-up stat, but it's simply not true. In fact, Gabe hasn't cracked 90% in pass blocking efficiency rating all year and was bottom 5 in the league in PBE upon last check with his ratings falling in the low to mid 80s. He's uber strong and impressive when moving forward and attacking things in his front and his periphery, but the fact that he can't stay in front of that deep edge is troubling.
That's not to say Webb has been a stud, in fact he has given up more total negative yardage and sacks than Gabe with more help, but his problem is more about consistency than it is a lack of any particular physical ability. The fact that he has graded out at 90%+ multiple times this year is a nice one.

LULZ don't pay too much attention to Germans, he means really well and is a great fan but I think he is a bit new to football. Might want to start by explaining what PBE is and where to find statistics on it if you are going to talk about it.

new to football
I don't trust stats. Only stats that I manipulated myself. My Eyes don't lie. Carimi is good for most parts of the game, when he makes a mistake, it's a big mistake. You notice it for sure when a pass rusher gets untouched to Cutler.
There is only one statline in football I really look at and think is important: Wins - Loss

Yea wins and losses are the ultimate goal, I agree with you there. But last year we were 7 -3 and finished the season on a 1 - 5 slide to end up 8 - 8. Can you imagine us winning only 1 more game this year? As it stands, it could happen... it HAS happened before, last season!
So I think there is a lot more to it than wins/losses, especially if you want to post on forums about a team like this.

That should be an interesting match up since they practiced against one another in college at UW. I doubt there much one doesn't know about the other.
Sox makes some good points about Carimi. His quickness off the ball and his ability to maintain his balance throughout his blocks is pretty poor. Even on bull rushes he been rag dolled and put on his butt. Could be the injury is still causing some issues with his leg strength as he pushes off or it could just be technique things that need to be fixed.
Like Webb he needs to get his hands into his guy with his feet under him and there are too many times he isn't doing that. He's lunging which tells me he's not getting set up quick enough. So it could be his legs still don't have all of the strength he needs to play OT at this level. He couldn't do much weight work in the offseason so those muscles may have atrophied somewhat.
After an offseason to work on those problems if he's still struggling then maybe we need to start worrying but for now let's see if he can clean it up. By in large he's still a rookie and few rookie lineman succeed right from the start. It takes a year or two to get it all down. Webb is a pretty good example. This is his third year and we're finally seeing some improvement but both of those guys still have along way to go before we can feel like or issues at OT are over.

He, like myself, is way too tall to move to guard. He needs to work on his foot speed butt is blocking inside very well. He and Webb nation have gotten killed the past two weeks on outside speed rush. You know it's bad when the guy runs around you like your not even there, like someone drop-step dunking on you in basketball. Tackles are buying cutler maybe .5 seconds on the outside rush vs having no one there and letting the guy come free. Pathetic, both of them
I don't think he's too tall to move inside. That's like saying all QBs should be at least 6'3" or 6'4". At 6' Drew Brees would argue with you on that and even Favre was only 6'2". One the best lineman we had in the '80s "Bruise Brothers" line was Mark Bortz who was over 6'6" and went 280lbs and he was a converted DT.
But that said moving Carimi wouldn't be my first choice either. He needs some time to straighten his game out before we start moving another OT around again like we did with CWill who was 6'6" and could play OG fairly well and Rachal is 6'5". Either you know how to play the game or you don't. Carimi is a smart player who knows how to play. He's still a rookie so let's give it some time before we panic.
