the problem is that it was still 37 points. That is - no matter why - a good amount of points

Always seems like whenever we talk about stuff you revert back to "We are 7 - 1, thats all that matters" and you don't want to talk about how bad this offense is or see things for what they are.
Suspect you and the German are both talking sense. Good stats are ... good. Lots of useless/counterproductive stats around.

Don't know if http://hosted.stats.com/index.asp is trustworthy, but for what they are worth, Carimi is already the Bear's best tackle in sacks/game-started (career). I know that bar (Webb, Scott) is not set very high. Oddly, Carimi gets more penalties per game than Webb, so far. My Eyeball Test? Carimi looks a good deal better than Webb looked as a rookie. I *hope* he gets better. Can he get better this year? Perhaps, if some of his problem is that physically he isn't all the way back from surgery. An unstable or weak knee can lose you some coordination/quickness.

I think that's at least a part of it Roch. He had to spend the entire offseason rehabbing that knee instead of working out to build his strength and push off the snap. Remember that in camp Tice moved CWill over to RT for a couple of weeks because Carimi still couldn't handle all the work.

I'd say that right now his situation is similar to Urlacher's. He's playing his was back into shape physically AND still battling a rookie learning curve. If he didn't have the goods to get better I'd be worried but he does. You don't just walk onto a UW line and replace a guy like Joe Thomas as a freshman if you can't play the game.

The kid is a good football player and he'll get it worked out. Give him a full offseason of conditioning and weight room work and a lot of time to study game films and work on his techniques and he'll come around. I don't ever see him as a LT but I don't think we'll need to move him from RT to OG either.

What do we do in the draft when the weakest link is so apparent ?

Do we HAVE to go down this road again in 2013 in the 2013 draft ?

I mean ... c'mon already ... how good can Cutler be if we protect him ?

Well your not gonna just go out and draft the OTs you need next April and expect them to be great pass blockers right off the bat so I'd say we look elsewhere for a better solution.

Carimi will come along in time. If Webb can't get it together we go shopping for somebody else's LT next spring. Gotta get a guy in his prime who can do it now not another kid we need to develop.

Besides it's not a great draft for OTs anyway.

That's part of the problem for sure. That's also the reason why he looks worse when the Defender comes with Speed or when Carimi has to turn a bit. When he knows for sure that the play is on his right side or running play, he can stand up without any fast turns or whatever (miss the english word I'm searching here). When it's on his side he just stands up and blocks straight.
