You mean like that 13 - 7 win over detroit? That was a pretty ugly game offensively. Yea I would say the D dominated and we got a little lucky, it was a 1 score game late. Thats why you don't see a lot of defensive minded teams anymore, you dominate the whole game and the other team is still in it. Most franchises opt for huge offensive production and a defense good enough to stop the other guys a couple of times. Bears are ugly by nature, I love them for it

Didn't see this game, but I agree. He's had a really tough time just throwing the ball away and it often costs us a sack with loss of yards instead of simply a loss of down. Wish he had a limit to looks before he was required to throw it away. Sometimes preventing a loss is actually a successful play.

Here's something most of us already learned but hopefully Hester will remember this time....when he breaks upfield (even if he doesn't have a huge lane), he is so fast that he still runs by people. When he tries to dance around and goes sideways, bad things happen.

Yeah, he definitely does much better when he is heading upfield at full speed instead of trying to make too many cuts.
I'd be willing to bet that if you went back through all of his returns that he has very few big cutbacks or direction reversals for major gain, and most of all of them are due to full speed, hitting a lane, with very few (1) cuts.

When playing a bad team we should win those games and we have. I also like having packerfans compliment the bears defense at work.

One more thing, the bears defense in my league has 158 pts while the next team the texans have only 103. BTW we have almost 100 more pts than that Green and Puke yellow team.

I'm not sure I'd say "Really well called game, no real complaints" when that was such an inexcusable call that led to a big play. It was pretty Martz-esque.
That's a really good question and I can't answer it nor did I even see it since I didn't see the game but I'll make you guys a deal.
If you'll buy the gun, the bullets, and pay for my attorney I'll be happy to shoot Tice for all of us next time he does it.
PS: And in addition what I learned from reading this is that the offense still sucks and if eventually it costs us a big playoff win or even the playoffs themselves Mike Tice will not be the OC in 2013, Jeremy Bates will. Personally I think Tice is in way over his head as a play caller and needs to give it up.......NOW!

This one goes out to you, MidwayMonsters.
I think in an earlier thread, you stated that you wished that Mike Martz was back as offensive coordinator of the Bears. Well, I think you should know that with the exception of the fact that Tice likes to use bigger receivers to do his dirty work, you have Mike Martz v2.0 in the form of Mike Tice. I don't think you really believed that Martz was that good of a coordinator on the Bears' staff, but rather he was better than what we have right now.
Tice does so many of the same things that Martz did. I seem to recall reading an article that someone like soulman posted that said Tice made the comment that he wasn't going to totally throw out every play that Martz ever ran. It appears that this revelation is too true, more than I'd like for it to be. He has totally departed from the strategies that made his teams in Minnesota even a little bit palpable. I think that every year he coached the Vikings, they were in the top five in rushing, and in the case of one season, which I can't remember which, his team led the NFL in that catagory. He believed in using H-backs like Jimmy Kleinsasser to get yards over the middle; he was one of the first coaches to do that before now that it's popular. He already does today's version of the "Randy Ratio" with Brandon Marshall and, when healthy, Alshon Jeffery.
Buddy, the point I want to make is that I think that Lovie Smith is so inept in making his choices for offensive coordinators that he continues to have one bad one after another. First it was Ron Turner. Then it was Martz. Now, it's Mike Tice. I think the heir apparent to Tice's role is already on the staff in Jeremy Bates, but will Lovie Smith ever have the guts to cut loose Tice? One can only wonder.

Cutler said he was not happy with the O in the 1st half? Fine, I wasn't too. Good that a game isn't won or lost in 30 minutes and that there is a 2nd half that counts too

@ soulman: Where the hell were you Sunday? It was the biggest route of the season!!! The offense wasn't good again, totally choppy and inconsistent, we were only able to put 1 real score together which was a 39 yard bomb to Marshall. The other scores were easy gimmies set up by the defense or ST.
Tices play-calling was bad again, abandoning the run for no reason when it's working, single receiver routes in max protect that got jc sacked, very obvious blocking schemes tht tip off the defense to run or pass. Our guys aren't that bad, if the second worst defense in the league is teeing off on you, it's because you are lighthousing it badly which is on Tice.
Regarding the gun thing, I'll represent you bud don't worry, no charge.
@ Dagan: how ya doing buddy? Ya Tice is as bad as Martz with the following exceptions:
- more sacks under Tice.
- worse on third down under Tice.
- less points under Tice.
- Tice runs the ball less.
- Tice uses Matt forte less, Forte is still our best player on offense.
- worse on first down under Tice.
- less "explosive" under Tice (less plays of 12 yards or more or something like that).
Now when you throw in the fact that Tice has Brandon Marshall and Martz had Johnny Knox I'd say I'm pretty sad we ran Martz out of town, if you are going to run a guy out of town you'd better have a damn good replacement. The grass is always greener fellas.
