    Chicago Bears Houston

    This is the smell test.

Assuming we are as good as we think we are ... and Houston is as good as they think they are.

This could be the forerunner of a SUPERBOWL.

Where do we start to beat these guys at?

They have alot of artillary ...

    Schaub

    Johnson

    Foster

    Owen

This is just scratching the surface of this team.

We have our work cut out for us at Soldiers ... if this was in Hoston ...

I'd rather we played them in Houston ... we have a good road record.

At home we just seem to take the day off until it counts.

    Lets see.

IMO, this game will be the biggest test since the Green Bay game. The Texans have a good offense and a damn good defense. I have a feeling the Bears D will have to show out like they did yesterday in order to win Sunday night.

    ...peace out...

not the game that is that important to me. Need to win against the 9ers would be perfect. Need that tie breaker.
Cutler will go down a lot and early. Need to run the ball to wear the D down. Watt is a great pass rusher, but he can't stop the run alone.

What scares me the most is J.J Watt against our Oline, I can see Cutler get sacked from than the Packers game.
I think it's a good that needs to be won by our defense. I just don't have faith in our offense vs Houston defense.. I'm glad we're playing at home.

In worst case it can be a game like the one against Packers were we could have beaten them if our offense would do their job, defense did good at keeping GB's to a low score.. I'd hate to see a lose like that again where you sit with the feeling we could have won this game.

    Houston Texans Houston Fan

Houston fan here, who lived in Chicago for about 4 years. This is shaping up to be a big game for both teams more so for the Bears who need to fend of GB and stay in position for that first round bye. Houston would like to stay in the driver's seat and show they can hang with the elite of the NFC.

This Bears team is very similar to the one that went to the Super Bowl years back. Amazing turn over forcing defense with so so offense. That team had a very good o-line but not the QB and WR's this one has with a subpar line, but they win the same way.

This will be a low scoring game, take the under. Houston has had trouble consistently running the ball this year and being consistent of offense. I am not sure how they will attack the Bears defense, probably lots of play action dump offs to the FB and TE's, but its hard to see them putting up many points. The Bears will have to deal with lots of pressure from all angles, there will be elaborate blitzes designed to get free runs to the QB. Cutler better have his head on a swivel and he must not go bad Jay and throw off his back foot into coverage when he is pressured. And of course Watt will be a factor all game. If the Bears are smart they will run the ball as much as possible, the Texans have had problems against the run this year especially since Cushing has been out. A heavy dose of Forte and Bush and as little of Cutler is probably the best strategy.

This game will probably come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. (turnovers, penalties, sacks) Both offenses will need help from ST and Def to get short fields. The Bears have the advantage being at home but this one could go either way, here's to an injury free game.

Good to see a rival fan here (we do have several mainstays, not meaning them) that isn't here to talk anything besides rational football talk. First off, what is wrong with Cushing? Second, i think it will be close, but def. Don't see a win by more than 10 pts either way. With that said, i think forte in the running game and dumpoff passes earlyand often will help us more than anything. Getting Allen involved more than Bush(Bush needs to be regulated to goal line carries until they figure out how to use him better) along with getting cutler moving more will hrlp us immensely. Another question, how do your guys' cbs and safeties look? I forgot who your no. 1 cb is, but i think it is Robinson, and i thought he was pretty good. Also, is Daniel Mannong still good for you guys?

    Houston Texans Texans Secondary

Cushing torn ACL done for the year, Robinson left 2 years ago via free agency. As for the secondary as a whole they are very solid, the money guy is Jonathan Joseph Pro bowler last year, he hasn't look good this year because of a groin injury but he seems to have put that past him the last two games. When he is on, he is very good, more of a cover guy with ball skills than a physical corner. Kareem Jackson is the other corner who has steadily improved since being drafted in 2010 in the first round. He is having his best year, his strengths are his tackling and the short to medium stuff he still has some trouble locating the ball on the deeper stuff. Manning has been very solid for the last two years, he seldom gets beat deep and is always around the ball. The other safety Quinn is also very solid against the run and covering TE's, the nickel back McCain is solid as well but smaller and sometimes gets out jumped. The thing about the secondary is that they are always around the ball, and even when the receiver makes the catch he is almost immediately tackled, they all seem to be sure tacklers. Most of the time they play bump and run man and send six. It makes them susceptible over the top, but most of the time the short stuff is covered nicely.

Sending six does not allow for a lot of time for the over the top stuff to develop.

I thought Manning was really starting to come around before he headed to Huston, so it is no surprise to me that he has been solid. Strong Safety is where he played the best for us too.

I think (hope) this thing will be close, and that our ST or D can pull off another win. I honestly do not think we should ask our Offense to take this one on thier shoulders and press too hard.

Run the ball to the outside and in, and let all three RB's get some touches to keep them fresh.

This is NOT the game to be running a heavy dose of Devin Hester on Offense. I honestly think that dink and dunk might be the best strategy, the D-line of Huston is simply too good to play it cute.
