Our offense needs to wake up and starting putting itself into better position to score and keep drives alive. Especially on first down. Our first downs have been bad this year and puts us in a bad starting position.

Bush on the other had is frustrating me. Ever since Forte came back and looked like the Forte of old (after the first few games) Bush has seemingly taken a step back. To start the year he was playing great, almost as though he has a chip on his shoulder to prove he should be splitting touches. Since Forte has taken off, Bush has seemingly regressed and is not playing with as much burst and motivation as before. Almost as though he realized that Forte is light years ahead of him and is playing as though he does not belong.

With Bush, he is best running between the tackles. When they try to run him outside, he just isn't very good. It's not his game. And when they DO run him inside, he needs the oline to get their blocks right. Our run-blocking is still iffy. Sometimes it looks great. Sometimes they just don't get their blocks and Bush is trying to run where there is no hole. Forte is elite, and can often make some positive yardage in those situations. Bush gets stuffed in those situations.

It also possible that Bush is a little pissed that he's not being used as much as he'd like. I think we all remember his comments about being more than just a guy who can bull the ball ahead in short yardage or on the goal line. I think he's unhappy with his reps and that may be affecting his attitude.

In a way I can't say that I blame him since he's not being used as much as I believe he should either. Just four carries against Carolina and while he had ten against the Titans they came when we were running to protect a lead and against a defense pitted to stop the run.

My take on it is that Tice is nowhere near using all of the offensive weapons he has efficiently and that includes Bush and his TEs. Forte isn't being used in the passing game as effectively as he was in the past either.

Let's face it right now one good reason that the offense is struggling is because our OC is struggling to get a proper grip on his game plans and play calling. Bush is like a rusty gun that doesn't shoot well because it's not being used. RBs need carries to get into a rhythm and he's not getting them. In fact no one but Forte is really because we aren't running or throwing to the backs as much as we should.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
