No chance for Knox in 2012
Receiver can't hit PUP practice deadline; will remain out all season
By Vaughn McClure, Chicago Tribune reporter

Tuesday was the deadline for receiver Johnny Knox to return to practice off the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list, meaning Knox will remain on the list the rest of the season, although the Bears did not officially announce the move.
Knox continues to recover from spinal fusion surgery. He had the procedure after absorbing a devastating hit from defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove in a game against the Seahawks in December.
Devin Hester expressed frustration for his close friend.
"It's very disappointing because when the doctors are telling you one thing and then the time comes around, it's not what they told you,'' Hester said. "You get frustrated because you're wondering if you're ever going to be the same and you're wondering, `So why are y'all telling me, hoping that I'm going to be right by this certain period of time and it's not there yet?'
"It's kind of a downer for him because he's in a position where he's fighting to get back to being a normal person and being able to get back on the field.''
Hester has attempted to keep Knox positive throughout.
"I still mess around with him and joke around with him every now and then,'' Hester said. "At the same time, stuff gets hard on him. Certain days you can see where he wishes he could be out there with us practicing. You see that in his face. But I'm happy that he's still around and that we get to talk and chill every now and then.''
There was optimism Knox would be able to walk normally in three to four months after the operation, but the surgery revealed more nerve damage than initially anticipated. From the start, he was told it would be a long and difficult recovery.
Extra points: The Bears re-signed receiver Joe Anderson to the practice squad and terminated the practice-squad contract of receiver Kamar Allen. … Former Bear Kahlil Bell visited the Texans on Tuesday but did not sign with the team. He has other visits scheduled. … EA Sports will track all tweets containing the hashtag #Madden13Skills while the challenge airs on ESPN Wednesday from 7-8 p.m and donate $1 to Bears Care, up to $100,000.

I don't think any of us have expected him to return this year and actually I'm far more concerned that it may be not at all now. As it turn outs he was hurt far worse than anyone realized to begin with.

Not meaning to be a smartass, but that's about as bad as i thought it would be. Honestly, I think he would've likely had his "breakout" year because of Marsh and AJ. He and Bennett would be our go to guys on the short routes. With that said, if we don't get sanz on the field much this year, we should let him go to a team that could better utilize him, and see if we can get a reliable/cheap speedster next year.

I don't know about you guys but that's a really nastry injurie he got there, and I have my doubts if he ever will play a snap in the NFL again. I did not expect him to return this year, if he did that would a huge fucking surprice.

I really feel bad for Johnny. I also feel like he could have been a significant help to the team this season. Cutler seemed more comfortable throwing to him, than he now does to Hester. He gave us a true vertical threat, that just isn't there with Hester IMHO.
It would be great to have a true burner like Knox in the mix, to complement B.Marsh & Alshon.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I do too. But, if there's anyone who can bring his career back just on the pure desire to play again it'll probably be him. I think the key factor is will he ever get his speed back again. Without that he's not gonna be a very effective WR.
And I agree. We do miss him. He was a lot more accomplished deep threat than Hester. All you have to do is look at his YPC average to see that. Time will tell I guess but the Bears will give him every opportunity to return if he wants to.

Could be worse. The election could have ended in a tie and then someone might have suggested we let Bush take another shot at screwing things up even more.
Tell me, is that village in Texas happy now that they finally have their idiot back?

Bush could only screw it up so much. From there, Obama bravely took the mantle and laughed, "You think that's a recession? I'll show you a recession!" And I don't know about Texas, but I'm from the south side and I would have loved to get our idiot back last night.
As for Knox, I just hope he can be 100% healthy. Honestly, if I were him, I would never set foot on a football field again. I can't imagine having an injury like that, which could have easily paralyzed him, and deciding to play again. Just stay away, get an injury settlement, collect a pension and do something meaningful with your life.
