Tillman May Not Play Sunday If Wife Goes Into Labor

Well we don't have the whole story and it's quite possible Florio doesn't either. We don't know whether or not their are health issues involved here again for mother or child so any judgements we make we make without that knowledge.

It's all a matter of one man's opinion versus another's and it's always easier to say what someone else "should do" when it's not your own situation you're dealing with. Half the guys who say they'd play may reverse that decision if it was the birth of their own child they were dealing with. If they were totally honest that is.

Inducing labor or a "C" section are alternatives in some cases but maybe not advisable in this case. Beyond that there's also the feelings of Mrs "Peanut" to consider as well. We're all just spectators in this situation. She's the active participant so I'm not gonna put myself above her as far as being THE decision maker on this one and I applaud "Peanut" for taking that same stance.

Besides, the odds of her going into labor right before the game begins or his having to leave during the course of the game aren't all that great anyway so it's not as big an issue in the real world as it is in the press. Just one more thing to criticize coming from one more selfish prick who thinks all pro football players should think and behave the way he says they should.

I guess he couldn't find anything bad to use to pick on Cutler this week so now it becomes Peanuts week to get some trash. LOL, ya' gotta love it.

I'm with Florio on this one. Not to say that i wouldn't be completely nehind him if complications came up and he had to leave the game, but I think that it is a home game, he is not far from the hospital, and the chances of yet another serious complication is not that serious. If he is worried about it, induce labor and do ir prior to Sunday. It happens all the time. If he doesn't want to induce labor, I would say that he needs to be at the game because he only has 16 days of reporting to work for the season. Easily planned around.

Birth in and of itself is not a life threatening event and it should not be planned as if it were. Not quite the same, but what if another player decided he needed to be at his son's soccer game in case he got really hurt. If he gets hurt, then leave the game and be there for him. I say the same about his wife.

My personal choice after his first instance with complications would be to be there. I would induce labor and be there for her and have it all done. Isuue handled quick and easy. His choice not to, but then it should not impact the team unless it is a medical emergency.

As I referenced above, the whole inducement procedure is quite safe and routine, and there is no need for something as major as a c-section to "schedule" a birth. That said, I understand the whole argument that there could be some medical complications based on the health issues he had with his daughter; and if that is the case, I certainly understand not taking the slightest risk that may make a difficult situation worse. I think we all do, and if there is anything outside the norm here, I don't think anyone would suggest doing something that would put anyone remotely at risk. Coming from someone who was told my son would likely die within the first year of life, I certainly understand. However, both of my kids were also induced, and it's no big deal and safe.

Not when Job pays Millions but only lasts 10-15 years. Then job comes first, b/c it's going to set up your ability to live for the next 50

It may be the unpopular vote but I'd really like to see him play the game regardless. I can understand his position especially with the issues he had with his other child, but wow to miss such a hugely important game is tough.

Personally, I would play the game & miss the birth. I would think to myself "This is a special year, we are fighting for the #1 seed & it's very important to keep the momentum & stay ahead in our division with as many wins as possible, I'm a HUGE asset to this team & the MVP of this defense this year, I ALONE can turn around an entire game with my forcing turnovers & it creates a "trickle-down" effect when I make those plays. My child will be born & I will be there immediately after the game. I don't even want to imagine anything going wrong because I likely won't be able to do anything about it, it's in Gods' & the doctors hands".

I would also expect my wife & family to understand my position & how important it is for me to play the game. HOWEVER....you always have the argument that family always comes first, this is "just a game" (granted, it is also his career & how he makes a living to support his family).

Not having Peanut play especially against such a tough opponent could be devastating. I would imagine the Texans constantly attacking his replacement & possibly burning our defense with the deep pass his way. This is a tough, tough decision.
