Our offense against Houston's defense.

With all the crazy play calling we've seen this year, do you think the offense will finally be settled down for Sunday night?

It seems like we try to do too much early in games and it ends up hurting us. I wish they'd just keep it conservative in the beginning. No stupid penalties. No pass plays that require our tackles to be pro-bowl players. That Jay can finally develop a bit of pocket presence and get rid of the ball, rather than taking stupid sacks and fumbling it to the Texans. Run the ball and when we do pass, just look for safe, high-percentage plays that can boost Cutler's confidence and we can ride "Good Jay" for 4 full quarters.

It seems so simple to me. Why shoot ourselves in the foot again, right out of the chute?

With our great defense and special teams, all we need out of our offense, is that it doesn't self-destruct early.

A lot of running, rotate Forte and Bush in and run the hell out of them. The first two series the first 3 plays run the ball no matter what. When they do throw a lot of rollouts away from Watt with Marshall and Hester flowing and Forte and Bennett finding holes. No 50 yard throws unless someone is left uncovered please. The defense is good enough to hold the Texans to 17 or less as long as the O doesn't give them short fields constantly!!!

It's going to be a lot of FG's I think. IF AJ plays we might get a extra TD out of it. A miracle if we put up 21-24 by the offense alone.

I think we need to run a lot and throw a lot of passes to the backs. If Cutler spends too much time sitting in the pocket he will get his ass handed to him.

Couldn't agree more. We need to RUN THE BALL. A lot. Like 60% in the first half. Jay gets one shot deep in the first half just to keep the DBs honest otherwise the passing game should be heavy on short slants, dumpoffs to backs, screens, and rollouts. I don't want to see spread formations and empty backfield sets. GEEZ, its not that complicated!

Punt the ball on first down would be my option.

Our offense needs to play clean, no holds, false starts especially when deep in our own territory. I believe this will be a defensive game, and field position will be everything. If our O and D are playing with their backs against the wall all game it will not go well. We can't give the Texans short fields all night.

Our NT Cody has a punctured lung and broken ribs and they are still thinking about letting him play, he went back in against the Bills. Could loosen up the middle, but he only plays 20 snaps a game and his backup is about the same, so we lose some depth. So if Tice sticks to running, it may open up. Wade typically gets people to give up on the run, magic dust or something, then they start chucking the ball which is good for us. Hope Cutler holds the ball. I dont remember seeing much max protect offense this year, not sure how Wade attacks that, blitz or cover.

PS, on offense game day decision for our TE Owen Daniels. He is a seam catching machine with great hands. Kubiak loves tight ends though, so we have capable backups. Ben Tate may not be ready either, but Arian started eating meat again, so all is good

TEs have caused us problems in the past. Urlacher is not what he once was dropping to cover the deep middle/seam where TEs can feast. However, our safeties have played well so far. Chris Conte, FS, is 6'2", 200+. I don't expect us in nickel much, but we could see Kelvin Hayden in to cover the TE. Hayden is 6'0", 195 but plays big and is a good tackler. However, if Tillman is out with the birth of his baby, Hayden will start. That leaves us with D.J. Moore, 5'9", 180, in at Nickle.

Simple: Don't plan anything. Take what the Defense gives ya. For example, if they're crowding the box, throw a couple of quick passes to let them know running isn't our only forte.
