I think Emery probably has a sticky note posted to his phone saying call about lineman first! At this point in time it's hard for me to fathom him doing much of anything else. Most of the others gaps have been filled.

I'm terrible. The 1st thought that immediately popped into my head was "with this oline, this could happen sooner rather than later."
Damn it I missed the joke!!!
I must have been focusing in too much on those PBJ sexual fantasies Dags is having about those Hooters Honeys.

My kids tell me "you're not funny dad" .....so my feeble attempts at humor are pretty sad I guess.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I think he realizes that Emery breathed new life into the FO. He likes Lovie Smith, no question. He got say in who got the OC job, it was an obvious choice but Cutler was pulling for him. Cutler was able to lobby for Bates, Lovie listened, Cutler lobbied for Marshall, Emery listened. The amount of pull Cutler has within this organization along with his production and how much he's won here in Chicago. I would be shocked if Cutler left Chicago, granted that's assuming he doesn't do anything dumb.
Cutler has become the face of the Bears.
I also think Cutler realizes that you can't fix all the issues in one offseason. This offseason Emery got him WR's. No one game plans around a good OL, they do game plan around Marshall, Forte, etc. I think this offseason Emery will address the OL. Louis, Rachal, Scott, Spencer all have expiring contracts, if he wants to remake the OL this offseason he has the freedom to do that. That being said, Louis needs to stay, no doubt he's been our best OL possibly one of the best guards in the NFL this season.

I agree with you on both counts. Had the regime of Martz-Angelo been retained it would likely be a very different story, thank God for that. No question Cutler had influence--that was actually listened too--with regard to Bates, Marshall, and even Jeffery. He got his coach and he got his "big and tall" WRs, including his buddy with a troubled past that Cutty must have vouched for.
As for the OL, I agree with you about Louis and am sure he will be re-signed. The investment in him is finally paying off big time. Spencer is a dead man walking as I see it and will be let go. Jury is still out on Rachal but he has definitely helped stabilize a line that was in free fall since taking over at LG. I would expect that Emery is going to look very hard at drafting an OG/OC within the first 2 rounds next year and signing a FA OT if the opportunity presents itself.

I'm sure that Emery and Cutlers agent had some first talks about this already. Would be shocked if they haven't talked yet. Nothing will happen before the season is over, but we have time. Think he will sign his extension before free Agency starts. It would be really good to know about his contract and Cap Hit before we may sign Long/Clady/Bushrod.
We have time and a QB that wants to stay and is known to be a fan of the team he plays for. PO success this year will determine how much money he will get

With all the hits he takes that might be soon
