Something else to think about. W/this franchise qb, a great WR/RB combo and even w/the OL playing okay, the Texans were okay w/giving this team field position all night and saying okay Hester is not going to beat us on ST's, lets see what your O can if you have the ball near mid field; the answer was a resounding sqaudouche.

Yea, we had good field position all day. I'm so tired of making excuses for the Bears offense, they suck, plain and simple. Might as well punt on first down. Brandon Marshall is a fucking HERO, but he can't do it alone.

Run the offense through Forte and hit Marshall when he is open, how hard is this?

It was raining and at the beginning of the game, both teams were swapping turnovers. GO TO A GROUND CONTROL GAME! We probably have the best RB tandem in the league. USE IT. We also have the worst TE group in the league. Why are we throwing to them?

Marshall did his part. I didn't like the way Cutler was playing when he was in the game. He was throwing too much. I have to go back and look at the hit that knocked him out. I think he got flushed because the line broke down. If that is the case, even though the line played pretty well, I would still lay the blame of him getting knocked out of the game on the OL.

How many notches in their belt do they have now?

    We learned that:

The Bears STILL do not have a tight end worth a damn
    Carimi can block great rushers
Campbell isn't that good because he ignores open deep receivers
We need the defense to score if we want to win games

I think you guys are coming down on your O too much without crediting our D enough. Look at our defensive stats all year, we're not New Orleans. Guess how many rushing touchdowns we've allowed this year. How about points per game?

The Bears just ran into a defense as good as theirs, that's all that happened. Gauging how "bad" your offense is against our D is tantamount to saying your O is AWESOME after playing against the Saings. I would wait until after next week to start complaining this much about Cutler and your coaches. Other than GB, no one has had any luck against us offensively (except some Peyton Manning trash clean-up when we'd basically already won).

Trust me, almost any other team in the league would love to be in your position with your personnel.

    Houston Texans What we learned

Texan fan here, I think you can't take anything of value away from this game. The field and conditions were the largest factor, and unless you are gonna play every week in those conditions things from this game won't apply. The weather completely neutralized the pass rush on both sides, the d-lineman really couldn't fire off the line so there was little rush on both Qb's the entire game. I think Campbell played ok, there were so many dropped passes in this game and the bears offense did outgain the Texans in the second half. Phillips got smart and started only rushing three, with so many guys in coverage Campbell had to check down alot. Balls were sailing for both qb's, it was a dangerous proposition to throw the ball all night. This game is completely different in ok conditions. So much was different with the slop they were playing in.

Longhorn, But here's the deal, OUR D shut down YOUR O, that's a bigger win then YOUR D shutting down OUR O, your D got no pressure on the qb, one of your D's strengths. The O dropped the ball, literally, w/over throws, underthrows, and when the ball actually got there, drops. It's not a knock against your D, but our O is pathetic w/out facing a great D, I would hardly, if I was a Texans fan, take away a great feeling from this game. regarding our D. The Bears O had the right plays called, but didn't execute very well.

We need Jeffery to catch the ball with Marshall so we atleast have two who can.
Run the ball more specially when you look at the weather.
Teach Cutler to slide and throw the god damn ball away when he can't get it to Marshall.
    Oderint dum metuant.

It's any given Sunday though, our offense was 2nd in the league in points per game before this game and I actually expected us to blow you guys out, I mean how many freak defensive points can you possibly score in one season? So yeah, you shut down our offense. The rain was bad, everyone was slipping and sliding, and it was an ugly game. But our Defense shut you guys down like we've been doing almost every other team, that's all I'm saying. You saying your offense sucks would be like me saying our offense sucks. Our offense is AWESOME, but against an elite defense like the Bears in the freaking cold ass rain I will take 13 points any day. We should have executed better, Schaub made some stupid mistakes, but that's football.

You cannot gauge your offense based on that game, you guys are better than that game, you just faced a better team, that's all that happened.

Your defense isn't anywhere near as good as the Bears D. you've payed trash teams and your defensive stats look really good because of it. And before you say it, yes we have had an easy schedule too.

Not being able to register a sack against one of the WORST, if not THE WORST, OL in the game right now is something I would be complaining about if I were you.

Don't get me wrong, your D is good, but not near the level the Bears are playing. Both defenses are stingy with yardage and scores. The difference is the takeaways and scores our Defense brings to the table, no one in the league is even in the discussion with the Bears D.

The difference in the game was that Huston did not abandon the run even though we came out and stuffed it for the most part. Foster is beast and if anyone can come close to running on the Bears D, it would be him. Such a simple offensive scheme, we ran it in high school. We called it "34 Belly." Basically you pull the guard and cut outside, once they adjust you cut up the middle, rinse and repeat. Its hard to stop if you execute it well.

I've also noticed a trend of low rushing attempts against the Texans. This is because the Texans run the ball so much that the opposing offensive coordinator gets impatient and goes to the air too early. We fell into this trap too. I saw a lot of pass interference in the game too. Marshall is really guilty of offensive pass interference a lot, I will admit that. But there were some serious PI no-calls, particularly with Hester and the TD pass to marshall in the endzone (his left arm was clearly held). They were letting them play last night for sure. The "offsetting penalties" call that knocked Cutler out of the game was terrible. He wasn't over the line and there's no way those penalties should offset. A rule change is needed for times like that where one penalty is much more severe than the other and one penalty did not cause the other.
