What we learned

Didn't read everything but what I gathered from the game.

1. Bush and Forte need more carries.
2. Tice needs to sit down with Bates and whoever and figure out how to get somewhat positive yards on first down. You cannot win games all year when you have terrible second and third down to go's.
3. Alshon Jeffery completely changes this offense, it's another big receiver who Cutty is comfortable throwing to, which is invaluable. Him couple with Marshall and Bennett is much more fearsome than what we sport now.
4. Take Hester off offensive duties and put him solely on returns, he's way better when he's rested and he's hurting more than helping us.
5. Realize we made a mistake and bench Davis, he's not playing like a starter and until he steps up his game shouldn't be treated like one. I'd rather have Kyle Adams running those same routes.
6. We need Cutler to win against quality opponents.

I think we had the ability to not only win this game.. but dominate.. with the proper gameplan I think this is our game 8 or 9 times out of time. Call me a homer but we looked great on defense, they were on the field too much and put in bad positions but besides the one drive with a couple runs ripped off (which admittedly happens time to time against us, remember Colts week 1?) we were solid in all aspects. We only gave up 13 points and how many were off turnovers? With Cutty at the helm this O is capable of getting another touchdown. It's a bummer seeing all these plays work but used at the wrong time.. but in the end I came away from this game excited about the rest of our season. If our D can do what it did under those conditions to THAT offense well we're doing something right. Melton looked like an animal out there and Urlacher is running harder and faster than all season. He missed that key tackle but he also looks to have a lot more energy than before. Thats the AFC's best out there and we sure as hell gave them a run for their money, that game was winnable until Campbell stepped out. With a healthy Cutler I'm confident this team could go into New Orleans and win a Super Bowl if the cards fall right.

We are not judging our offense on that game. We would be fools too. Sure, our team scores a lot of points, but most of that is defensive TDs. We have eight.... I think that is more than our offense has scored (without looking at stats).

I knew it would be a low scoring game, my initial prediction was 13-10 Bears. Did not think either team would blow out the other.

The difference in the game was that Huston did not abandon the run even though we came out and stuffed it for the most part. Foster is beast and if anyone can come close to running on the Bears D, it would be him. Such a simple offensive scheme, we ran it in high school. We called it "34 Belly." Basically you pull the guard and cut outside, once they adjust you cut up the middle, rinse and repeat. Its hard to stop if you execute it well.

I've also noticed a trend of low rushing attempts against the Texans. This is because the Texans run the ball so much that the opposing offensive coordinator gets impatient and goes to the air too early. We fell into this trap too. I saw a lot of pass interference in the game too. Marshall is really guilty of offensive pass interference a lot, I will admit that. But there were some serious PI no-calls, particularly with Hester and the TD pass to marshall in the endzone (his left arm was clearly held). They were letting them play last night for sure. The "offsetting penalties" call that knocked Cutler out of the game was terrible. He wasn't over the line and there's no way those penalties should offset. A rule change is needed for times like that where one penalty is much more severe than the other and one penalty did not cause the other.

So our D isn't anywhere near as good as yours even though we allowed zero touchdowns yesterday and created 4 turnovers. You admit we've both played a somewhat easier schedule than some other teams and before this we both had only one loss to the same team.

I have no complaints about no sacks, we bring pressure and we keep opponents from scoring and we create turnovers and we have the NFL sack leader.

Not even near as good as you guys? Wow I didn't realize our D was so horrible!

so many reasons why you lost the game, no credit to our D, you basically just played against yourselves yesterday eh?

Not even "almost as good" or "respectable" but nowhere even near as good, ouch.

Longhorn, I think you highly over rated your team if you thought you were coming into Chicago and were going to blow the Bears out.
Our O is pathetic, it's bad all around your D should have held them down and ass stomped them all over the field and they didn't. The Bears qb/wr combo were bad, either missing the throw or dropping the pass. DManning was the lone standout on D for Houston and saved that game for them. Houston's D didn't impress me outside of their rush D, the Pass D was rather poor, again no qb pressure and more of the qb/wr misses then actual good DB play, hell Bennett seemed like he was open all night and somehow he only got 2 targets.

Your O SHOULD be awesome, but on a clean field our D would have played EVEN faster and your O would have struggled more b/c there would have been even more pressure on the qb and the D would have gotten to the point of contact of your rb faster.

You are not a homer, we looked great on defense again. Here are some stats:

Houston:
88 passing yards.... 88 fucking yards all day.
127 rushing yards on 36 attempts, thats 3.5 yards per carry.
2 takeaways against a team that has like 6 turnovers all year coming into the game.

That is dominant as hell. The Bears D came out EVEN STRONGER in the second half, which is amazing against a rushing team like Houston.

After a loss, we seem to "check our brains" in for a few days of madness here. Everyone will calm down and start looking forward to San Francisco by Wednesday. Until then, we'll be full of angst and overreaction.

I'll bet the Texan fans do the same thing after a loss.

It is what it is,

I thought we'd have a tougher time against that vaunted Ravens Offense who have been blowing teams out, and we dominated them too.

At the end of the day we can argue about who is better or worse at this or that, or what would have happened if this or that were different.

I think the one thing we can take away from yesterday is both of our teams are good and other teams should fear playing the Texans or the Bears. The only reason I thought we might blow you guys out is I thought our receivers might step up and make big plays, but too much slipping and sliding going on for both offenses and was basically just a defensive battle.

Great game, great teams, it was a retro style ugly defensive grid iron battle in the Chi Town rain, I would love to see these 2 teams in the Super Bowl.

Don't get me wrong, I'm here in San Antonio, I love that the Texans are good, and have thought they'd be better then they are. I was nervous about this game. I was actually suprised that they were actually in this game until the end w/how the O was playing. But the O has been this teams achille's heel all year and that was my knock on the Hou D, ecspeically w/no sacks, the Bears have the worst ranked pass OL in the league, for Hou to not get to them is not a good sign.

I said all year, that the texans are the most complete team in the NFL, good D, good pass good rush on O. But I knew the D would hold their O in check. it was going to be about if hte O could find a way to NOT screw it up, but they did and the game was decided b/c of it.

Not even close man sorry.

Theres a few "good" ones out there like Houston, San Fran, and Seattle. Houston is respectable, Houston is good, Houston is not "almost as good." No one is doing the things the Bears are doing, scoring points and creating turnovers like us. Its absolutely amazing. They are in a league of their own.

They have covered up so much for the offense this year its staggering. Our QB has like a 16 rating in the first 3 quarters and then makes up for it by blowing out dejected defenses in the 4th. I mean we are absolutely terrible on offense, that was the difference. Houston's offense didn't make as many mistakes.

Your defense hasn't had nearly as many mistakes to cover up this year. Go watch our games if you don't believe me.
