Are we overreacting to the loss?

I was sick about the loss, but this morning I was thinking that a lot of us are overreacting. Looking back at last night, it really was two great defenses playing some great football. Our "D" played a great game IMHO, against a very solid offense.

Turnovers hurt us. Losing Cutler killed us. If Jay had played the 2nd half we wouldn't have ended the game with those 6 measly points. I believe we would have won. But we didn't, so time to learn from the game and move on to San Francisco & get back on the winning track.

We're 7-2 and have a great team. We don't have a perfect team. I do believe the offense is still learning and evolving, and by the playoffs I think we'll be significantly better. Surely none of us should be overreacting to this loss. It's not like we were blown out. We got beat by a great team, which, by the way, was beaten badly by Green Bay.

    Any given Sunday.....

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Voice of reason right here, you guys need to work on some things just like every other team in the NFL does, but the sky is not falling. You're in good position.

I wouldn't say that untill our entire offense has played good football for 4 quarters. We're gonna face some pretty good teams, and even tho our defense is really good I don't think they can win every single game for us.

So long as we...ok, they actually learn from this lost, then no reason to overreact...

One lesson I hope Jay learns is that running face first into an oncoming LB at full speed is just as unacceptable as taking a sack from the blindside...2nd game in a row Jay take an unnecessary and avoidable hit; and this time he wasn't so "tough" or luck...

Reductio ad absurdum...it's how we roll...

I don't think to many are over reacting. This game was always going to be how our O responded to playing a top D, and they failed miserably at it. I have no faith that Cutler could have brought this crew back, he was playing horrible(still better the Jason C). I know he gets better in the 2nd half, but normally that has also been where the D has given them the ability to play loose by playing w/a lead also. He hasn't been so hot when he's trying to get the team back into the game.

Did you not see the missed opportunities by the Bears receivers and mainly Kellen Davis? Cutler wasn't playing the greatest but he can't throw it and catch it. The officiating was horrible in this game also, I think the replacements were better in most games than the regular refs were this one (not saying the regulars aren't better overall). What game otherwise than the Packers game has Jay been unable to not bring them back (there isn't a quarterback in the league that is 100% at comebacks)?

The team is a work in progress.

    The defense is elite.

We have a lot of new moving parts on this year's offense (players, coaches, scheme), and consequently it's going to take time to reach its potential. We will have some losses along the way. Last night was one of them.

Looking at the offense we have, you can see things that can be improved as the season progresses, and I think it is reasonable to believe we will see marked improvement.

You can also see some players that probably will not improve (they "are what they are" and we're stuck with them this season). But this overall offense should get significantly better over the next 7 games. Significantly.

I'm really not discouraged by last night. Disappointed, yes. But I see too many good things about this team to be discouraged. It's a far better team than we've had in recent years, but it hasn't reached its full potential for this season.

    But we'll get there.

I think when Jeffrey comes back our offense will improve. Bennett isn't playing in the position he is effective with Jeffrey out and Hester is unable to come in and fill that void. I have to say is that I was really impressed with the offensive line not allowing a sack. It just wasn't that, but the line bought the quaterbacks time against a good Texan's defense.

meh. Cutler put the team in good positions early, as good of positions as you were gonna find. Davis simply can't play, and the playcalling, when needed is atrocious. I could've typed this any and every week. We've a great team, but those two things have to change more than anything else (yeah, even Cutler's decision making, we can live with but those, no).

The thing I hate most about this loss is now a lot of Bears haters are saying "see, they play a good team and they lose". If anyone watched the game they would see that a bunch of missed opportunities and huge mistakes caused the Bears to be behind when their starting qb went out. Kellen Davis had his worst game ever as a pro, Cutler trusts the receivers too much (throwing jump balls to players like Hester not a good idea) and Marshall dropped a sure touchdown, the play looked eerily similar to the one ran against Tennessee except this time it bounced off of Marshall's hands. The Bears didn't do what they needed to do, which was run the ball and keep the clock moving and they lost.
