well da bears better be prepared for the cheap shot players because even houston went to that on the shot on jay.the bears have players they need to use them in the right situations.there were several games they could have got Jason playing time

I'd have to add that i think the biggest reason is that initially we did not want to de-motivate Hester from his return capabilities and wanted to find a way to pay him to stay here. In addition, I think there was a genuine desire to tap into his ability to make people miss and use that as additional gains after the catch, so we wanted him to develop into a good WR.
Unfortunately just because you want something to happen, you can't just will it to happen. You have to be able to coach up the person (need both the player talent and the coaching talent for that to happen -- and either one or both is missing here).
I still think we took the best return talent the game has ever seen and neutered him. He used to help us win games. Now the opposite argument could be made. I put that all on the decisions we made. They were ill-advised. Not sure who made them, but not a good idea in hindsight.

IMO we need to draft a TE in next year's draft. That is the one position that is going to hurt us in the long run that we don't have is a good Pass-Catch/Pass-Blocking TE. With Hester I think we need to move him back to KR/PR's only. I think that is why he has been so cold lately there. He is focusing too much. We need to let him just open and R-U-N! We need to use Bennett & Bush more.

Yea draft a TE, thats the ticket!
So now we just need to draft:
1.) an entire offensive line
2.) a protege linebacker
3.) a TE
How many first round picks do we have again? Hmmm, I think a TE can wait, if we get lucky in later rounds that would be nice but I'd just assume address other concerns. TE is a nice bonus but we have a lot of talent at the skill positions now, if we can't utilize the ample talent we already have what makes anyone thing we can utilize a talented TE?
I always tell people I want to live to be 150 and they say "why would you want to do that?" I say, "well, there's a few people I haven't made mad yet, I want to get them."

I keep asking the same question every year too. All we hear out of camp is how good he looks but once he gets up against CBs who play rough with him when the real games start he's a non-factor. The guy is a great return specialist and a good special use player but as a starting Flanker he's a zero. We might as well line up a 3rd TE and use him to pass block too for all the good Hester does.
What the deal with Bennett is I don't know. Somebody, preferably Tice or Lovie needs to explain how they can justify leaving a guy who is one of the most sure handed catchers in the NFL on the bench while we play a guy who just proves week and week why he not a staring level WR in the NFL. I'd sure as hell like to know too. If he's still hurting then say so.
Jeffery should be back this week or next and it's time to increase his snaps and decrease Hester's. Get Hester the ball where he has room to run and he's a dangerous guy but ask him to do the ordinary job of just catching passes and he leaves way too much on the table as far as I'm concerned.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

You know the contract issue really isn't one. He's getting about the same money as Bennett is getting. All that talk about his $40 mil deal is just that.....talk. Most of the big $$$ came from incentives he could only earn if he did become a #1 WR and he hasn't so this contract thing should really be a dead issue.
I think Hester is probably a very good practice player and that's what earns him his stripes as the starting Flanker. Unfortunately most CB now know that all you have to do is get physical with him and knock him off his routes and you can take away his effectiveness. That and the obvious fact that he won't ever out fight a defender for a ball.
As a special use player he could be just that, special, but as a starting Flanker he's useless.
Bennett needs to be playing more and Davis needs to grab a seat on the bench or even better yet the inactive list. That's one way to get the point across that his play has been so substandard that he won't even be dressing for games for a bit. Try the other. We have nothing to lose since Davis is doing nothing to help his cause or the team.
If we do need to address the TE spot in the offseason lets make sure of it first. We got enough of those mother frockers on the roster so let's see what they've got before we go off looking for even more of them and end up with the same thing we have now. Davis was in demand in the offseason and we resigned him and there's a 50/50 chance that if we go looking we'll just end up with someone else's problem.

I think this is why we're stuck with K.Davis & the other wannabe's at TE.
I blame Jerry Angelo.

None of the TE's on our roster look very good.
Scouts Inc has Elderidge graded as "a below average backup"
They have Kyle Adams as graded 20 points lower than Elderidge.
Spaeth and K.Davis are obviously not cutting it for us.
Rodriquez is not listed as a TE on our roster anymore, but rather a FB. At his small size, he's definitely not a TE anyway. It would be huge to have a solid TE on the roster for us to use as a target for Cutler. Especially in the red zone.
Am I reading this right, that Eldridge is the highest rated of the pathetic TEs?
And he got waived the other day.

Eldridge was cut, we had to make room for McCown :/
