With all due respect, I think everyone is ignoring the obvious. I simply think we are what we have been for years; an average to slightly above average team (as a whole) that remains good enough to only beat bad to average teams. We are Bum Slayers. When we play the top tier teams in the league, we are shown for what we are. This has happened time and time again 2006 and even that year could be argued to be the same. I'm sorry to say it, but this is the Lovie Smith Bears. Lovie Smith is to the Bears what Jeff Fisher was to the Titans. I like the guy, I think he's a great leader of men, but it takes more than that to win Championships, it's just that simple. Doesn't mean I won't be eagerly watching MNF and cheering (hoping) for a win, but to be honest, I'm not really expecting it.
I'm hoping the acquisition of Emery at GM will give us the foundation we need to be a better team. He can't fix everything in this 1st year though. He made the team significantly better in his 1st off-season. I expect the team will take another step forward in the 2nd, and upcoming off-season.
As far as this season, I'm just a spectator watching how things unfold. I'm cautiously optimistic that we can have a great year THIS season. Only time will tell.
