I think you may be right Ric. I've defended Davis for quite a while and up until this past game I thought he'd settle down and come around but now I have to agree with the rest. He needs to be benched. That was an awful display on Sunday night.

All season long teams have left those middle seams uncovered and using the TE on those routes or on a delayed release into the short zones like the first pass Davis caught have been open and there for the taking. So Tice finally dials up those plays and Davis goes out and steps on his dick not once but all game long.

If the fumble was his only mistake (He got nailed pretty hard, hey we cause fumbles just like that all the time , and nobody learned that better than Manning) and he'd redeemed himself by actually getting to that down field throw which Manning then picked maybe I'd be willing to cut him some slack. But no, he got bumped off his route a little and "pussied out" as far as getting back in and fighting for that ball. Cutler put it right where Davis was SUPPOSED to be. Then add to that another key drop of a pass Campbell threw his way and it all adds up to a miserable night for him.

The problem is he's had way too many miserable games this year both as a receiver and a blocker. I'd continue to use him ONLY when we're in scoring position and then only as a guy you send into the end zone for a scoring pass. Other than that he sits.

ERod looked good at FB again the other night. His lead blocks were good and I can see why they've been using him that way but IMHO we're wasting his receiving talents using him that way. I think it's time to get Eldridge and Adams more involved in some fashion and let Davis sit. Whatever faith the team has had in him must be gone by now and if it's not it should be.

I'm good with benching Davis, but did anyone see him get booed off the field when he was injured? That was just despicable, can't get that out of my head. Lost a lot of respect for our fans over that :(

I thought he was undersized. Wasn't sure how much though.

I have no problems drafting small guys as long as the coordinator is able to find a way to utilize their talents (ala New England). The problem is that our coaching staff has never been able to do that with anyone.

Did that happen after he dropped that pass from Campbell? The one where he just laid on the ground for a bit afterward? I'm thinking if they booed him it was because they thought he was just "dogging it" for some sympathy after he dropped a catchable ball. It kind of looked like that to me too.

I don't know what happened after that because I switched off the game. That was the final straw for me. The breaks weren't coming our way, we were dropping all kinds of catchable passes, not one close call went our way and they missed called several two which probably cost us scores, Robbie misses a FG that he usually makes blind folded, and Cutler isn't there to pull another game out of the fire.

And...................I had work to get done. (Poor me huh, LOL)

Well if you really want to know he weighs 239 lbs. To put it in perspective Clutts weighed in at 260 lbs at the same position (FB) and Brandon Marshall weighs 230 lbs. Brandon Marshall is HUGE for a WR but would be considered undersized for a TE, Marshall is slightly larger than Erod.

I think its dangerous to put him on the line.

Maybe he did fake it, maybe not, but it still makes me cringe to watch. I know this may be unpopular to say given the circumstances right now, but I really think the guy is being misused by the coaching staff (same thing with Hester). Why are we asking our personnel to do things they are not good at? The job of an OC is to put every player he has in the best position possible for him to succeed.

Kellen Davis is an excellent Red Zone threat and a mediocre blocker. What are we asking him to do? Block and catch the ball in space, that's what! Doesn't make any sense at all if you ask me.

Things are never as bad as they seem when they are bad, nor as good as they seem when they are good.

No, it doesn't make any sense at all. (See we do agree sometimes, )

As of this week I would sit his ass and start using Kyle Adams and ERod to get the job done and possibly see what this kid Eldridge has got. Davis can run block but not pass block and like Hester the ball needs to be thrown to him in a certain way. He can't handle anything that requires much of an adjustment to the ball.

Combined those things make him a "special use" kind of guy just like they do with Hester so it's time those two got used that way rather than as all purpose starters.

I just don't think when you have a clean sweep like this that the responsible coach should not be part of the issue.
