As fat as offsetting penalties that has always been the case. A simple holding call negating a big pass interference play happens all the time. I am sure the Bears have benefitted on these instances as well. Off setting penalties will not change. Flags cancel each other out.

The rule is that the players entire body has to be beyond the los to be an illegal pass. His back foot wasn't beyond by any means. I can see it being blown on the field in real time but it should have been reversed on replay, that's all.

And this is a different specific situation that a holding call negating a big bomb. The holding almost always occurs before the throw and you can easily argue that the pass would never have been made successful if the rusher hasn't been fouled. In this case it was a PF no matter what (if JC passes, runs, blocks, or just stands three).

The refs didn't make the Bears lose. No excuses. They definitely were outplayed thanks to some key miscues on offense. But the officiating was pretty piss poor Sunday night and the "close calls" definitely hurt us and helped Houston.

I don't know. I think that a player should always hit with the intent to punish a player. Not to cause permant injury or anything like that, but to hurt him in the sense of diminishing his ability to play or even take him out for the game.

I have no issue with his hitting Cutler with the intent to take him out. He didn't seem like he was trying to permanently injure him. The one thing I do have a problem with is that it has to be a clean hit. Suh's hit was even more vicious but it was clean. Dobbins hit Cutler IMO after the ball was thrown and he should have held up. He got fined and Suh did not, so someone also thought that the Dobbins hit wasn't perfectly clean. Nothing was done with Suh who is a known dirty player, so his hit was in fact clean.

I am convinced that he was trying to take Cutler out and he did. But he didn't do it within the rules.

I agree with you to a point, Dobbins might not have ment for it to be a cheap shot, it's what he said and done after that, is my problem. Just be a man and don't may up things to make himself look better.

Go back and look at it, JCUT tossed the ball ,he had his throwing arm halfway up,he wasnt trying to protect himself,he never expected to get hit.

The problem is it takes a split second to get rid of the ball while you are crossing or getting near the line of scrimmage before Jay got hit. There is almost no way of avoiding Jay and he did not hit him full speed. Had he hit Jay at full speed, Jay would have hit the ground like a bag or rocks being dropped out of a window. Here is the kicker of the Jay Cutler hit, he did not attempt to slide down to avoid getting hit like qbs are instructed to do. Jay put himself in a position to get hit and he did. I have seen a lot of late hits on players this year and I can say it was not cheap. I can say I have seen Chris Conte get a way with a few late hits and one I remember where someone caught a td pass in the endzone and Chris hit him late getting away without getting penalized for a late hit.

Play the game like it is your last game is how I feel. I think of all the time Walter Payton would cream a blitzing LB or run over a DB while trying to get that extra yard.
