Comparing Cutler to Campbell...........

I didn't see the end of the game brother but I grant him no excuses for checking down if there were guys open. Were there? I don't really know.

If there were guys open then he has no excuse. That said he needs to do better on Monday and given that he's gonna get more reps I believe we have a right to expect that.

As for last Sunday he gets an out from me so far.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. That was a unique game situation, a "one game deal" that is over. It is so very different from being a starting QB who has had an entire pre-season and regular season (to date) to work with the starters. Last Sunday night was a nightmare for our starter, Cutler. Just think how much more difficult the situation was for Campbell.

I'm always trying to not let myself go to extremes in expectations - good or bad. I think Campbell will be decent, but not great. With all of our talent on this team, "decent" is all we need from Jason Campbell, while Jay recovers.

God-willing, I think we're going to beat a great San Francisco team on Monday night. Campbell may not be great, but he'll do enough to allow the TEAM to win.

BTW, Campbell played behind a worse oline with the Skins, than we have now. I know, that seems impossible. But it was horrific. So, he should be OK with our present blocking woes. Again, I don't make much out of that Sunday game. It really doesn't mean much or define what we have in Jason Campbell.

Despite the Lovie-isms, the Bears knew early on this week that it was very unlikely Cutler would be cleared in time to play vs SF. I'm sure the call to McCown for backup went out no later than Tuesday and no way he would have been brought back unless the team knew Jay would very likely be inactive for a week. Bottom line, Campbell was basically the #1 QB by Tuesday and should I hope have been getting the 1st team practice reps he needs to be ready to go by Monday night. He's playing for next year's contract and possible starting job somewhere as well so he should be personally motivated for sure.

We can win with Campbell given the above. I'll let go the marginal performance last week coming in cold as he was under difficult, unprepared circumstances. But this week he needs to be ready and he needs to deliver a solid game. No more Hanie repeats please, that's what we paid him $3.5 million to avoid.
