Hell, Tice runs when he should pass and passes when he should run! He did make some nice calls in the Texans game, and if it rains again tonight like I heard earlier this week that it may well do, he'll be reined in again on what he will be able to do with the football.
Another thing that concerns me about this game is how Campbell always checks down every time he scans the field. Rather than targeting an open receiver down field throughout his stint in the Texans game, he would dump it off to a slot receiver or to Forte for little or no gain. That cannot happen tonight. Hopefully, a week of preparation will have him ready to tackle this challenge head on.
One last thought before I end this here: they will have a decisive advantage in terms of what they will be able to do with their tight ends. Our tight ends suck outside of perhaps Evan Rodriguez, while they have one of the very best ends in the game in Vernon Davis. He's scary, and that's how good he is. Marinelli is going to have to have someone double team him in order to succeed defensively, and it's going to happen more often than not over the middle of the field.
I expect this to be a close game, but I cannot be too sure that we'll come out on top in this one. My prediction: 49ers 14, Bears 10. We'll be lucky to get any offense going in this game with the way we've been playing lately. Cutler is so key to this offense performing at an optimal level. If we are to win, we are going to have to rely on the defense pretty heavily to come up with some turnovers and perhaps even score once or twice. And Devin Hester, if there ever was a time for you to wake up and return one all the way for a touchdown, today would be that day.
