Just How Great Cutler Is - Skip Bayless

"Last night was a tribute to just how great...great that Jay Cutler has been as the Chicago Bears starting quarterback. He's 31-19 as the bears starter and this year he got that same...that same bunch of turnstiles in the offensive line; got that offensive line to 7-1 and they would have been 8-1 if Cutler hadn't gotten hurt late in the first half of that Houston Game as you well remember . . . He's so big, and he's so athletic and he does get enough credit for ducking and dogging . . . there are a lot of free rushers game after game against Jay Cutler, he shrugs them off, he dodges, he runs with the football, he makes throws falling sideways that others just can't pull off and he continues to put that team in positions to win football games. He inspires both sides of the ball; offense and defense. You saw it last night, the Bears defense sagged because Jason Campbell had no shot, they knew it from the first series forward..."

This team runs through Jay Cutler, Skip even went as far as saying that the defense sloughed off because Cutler was not in the game and the defense knew it because Campbell did not have a chance. Comments?

Cutler is a good QB but he is rated as a bottom feeder this year due to the oline. His total QB rating is one of the lowest in the NFL.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

So, a bottom rating yet a winning record, wouldn't the QB's with better ratings have a better record? Just proves how much better that makes him.

I think Skip's comments have some merit, there are not many quarterbacks in this league that can make the throws that Cutler can off his back-foot, while he is getting hit, or any other athletic throws that Cutler makes. I'm not saying that Cutler is better than Manning or Brady, but could those two quarterbacks make the plays required behind this pathetic offensive line?

I never ever ever agree with Skip Bayless.

    Except this time.

Sadly enough, Cutler has learned that he must cope with this shitty excuse for an o-line, and he manages- kinda. It is sad that the Bears are wasting this talent, both Cutler's and Marshall's, because of an inept line. Cutty is a couple (or maybe one more, who knows) concussions away from being unable to play this game anymore. I have seen several games this year where I was literally amazed that the QB for whatever team -two examples, Eli Manning and Christian Ponder come immediately to mind- had time to sit back and survey the field, and didn't have to dodge d-linemen or worry about the ball getting swatted because the o-line was handling its shit. Of course there were times the defense got in there and f@cked sh!t up, but they were not the majority of the time. Even against Jacksonville, our line was getting pushed around and Cutler was uncomfortable.

I am beyond annoyed when looking at the potential that is being wasted. The first thing that pops into my mind is Jerry f#cking Angelo's news conference a couple years ago when the reporters kept badgering him about upgrading the line, and he spouted off that "we did everything we could". I have never wanted to punch a smug sonofabitch in the face so bad in my life.

Lets be honest here. This offense has not been the reason for our record. Until recently, we have ridden this defense to wins. When the D quit scoring we began losing games.

Does the total quarterback rating give a weighted score based on how good/bad the offensive line is? If it doesn't, how could this rating have merit? I would take an average quarterback with a great offensive line over a great one and a shotty o-line if those were my only two options. I think the total quarterback rating would reflect this also.

I agree Cutler has great skills and would be much better behind a decent oline. It is shameful that the Bears fail to give him a decent oline and OC.

OK, lets be honest. Has the D been lights out GREAT, yes, till the SF game. But Has Jay made the O better, YES, but the O looked the worst all season in SF. Whats common here, no Jay. Wonder if the O turned the ball over on every other down how the D would be? The Bears for the season have a better TOP. Jay is/ has better stats, in the fourth quater, when the D would be most tired. That doesn't help?

Unfortunately it is a 4 quarter game. Cutler has been remarkable in the last quarter. I am not trashing Cutler at all. I am trying to be honest here.
