No. JB played OT in college but he projects as an OG in the NFL from everything I have read. But who the hell knows what is going on at the clown school that Bears OL management has become. Its almost comical...send in the clown car with 9 jokers stuffed inside in funny costumes and big red noses.

    Webb/Scott -- Rachal (now back lol) -- Garza -- Louis -- Scott/Brown

I guess that is the "plan" now. Wheels now officially falling off....

So, why do you bench Rachal? It makes no sense. None.
Completely correct. Rachal is the best option we have at LG bar none right now.

This line sucks way too much to be contained in only one thread....

Just rearranging the deck chairs for our 2012 season. Nothing to see here. Please move along...

This just allows Lovie & his coaches to get lifeboats for another season. It looks like they're "doing something" important.

But don't feel too bad. At least we still have "The Hester Package"...

    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Knowing soulman, he's probably having an orgy with them. That man has one heck of a libido for his age so I've heard!

Hey! I wanna be there. I'll even do the little stuff like spread Honey on the buns (pun intended)
I prefer something with a little less spice to it than honey, like, say, whipped cream. That way, you can taste every last lick and nibble you take on them.

From what I am hearing the line will be as follows:

    LT Webb
LG Spencer or Rachal now tht he is back
    C Garza
    RG Louis
    RT Scott

They should put Brown at LG or Carimi but as of right now thats not what being talked about.

I disagree that Lovie needs to be canned. I also disagree with this feeling that this team isn't any good because they were beaten two weeks in a row. The reason being is that just about EVERY team of nite has had a horrible loss this year, and these two just showed that the Bears, like any recent team of late, are not runaway favorites. Hell, with all of these emotional conclusions based all around the league, it sounds like Colin Kareerepoinick is the new Big Ben with the accuracy of Tom Brady. The demise of Alex Smith in SF is a bit premature, just wait and see.

Now, back to personnel, none of us know how much sway Lovie had on Angelo's decisions, but regardless, that doesn't matter. After 2008, when it was obvious that WR, OL and several other positions were at a dearth in terms of talent, but Angelo wanted to fix the QB position. FINE, but it should've been very obvious to him the line was still a problem. He never really adressed that, and the team and coaching staff has had to suffer. We have a new GM, that picked 2 very talented players, both of whom it would seem are going to have nice careers. It's still early, but obvious that he is neither complacent, nor stupid enough to go against his scouts' opinions. Think about that, we have the same staff in place, but a different guy making the final call. He's making all the signings he can this year to fix things. We all knew that either DE, wr or the o-line was simply gonna have to wait another year for an influx of talent(he was wise not to pay for an expensive guard the way the bucs did, they had a lot more money to throw around). With that said, although we have injuries at wr, we are well to do in that area (with bennett and jeffrey both having nagging or serious injuries, that does change things). We also seem to be good enough at the dline. We just have to realize there is only so much that can be done to improve a roster each offseason.

Now, to firing Lovie Smith. I'm hoping those of you beating the "hire Cowher" drums aren't really serious, because he has given no real consideration into coaching again and we would be gambling that he still "has it". That is not an automatic that he would come in and vastly improve things. Also, with a really high rate of coach turnover this year, it is more unrealistic to say we would get someone better than Lovie than getting the o-line a lot closer to being fixed.
Henry, this isn't about just "losing two games in a row". It is about far larger issues than that. Issues have that have far reaching implications for the both the past and the rest of this season's realistic prospects. The offense in general, despite having real talent at the skill positions, has been an epic fail pretty much all season. Perhaps with the exception of opening day vs. Indy, the offense has been completely inept in both coaching and execution. Every other "win" has basically been because the defense or STs (usually the D) scored, shifted the momentum and flow of the game, and took pressure off the offense which had been anemic up till that point.

The vast majority of the offense's failures can be properly laid at the feet of the OL and its leader, Mike Tice. Now a unit and a coach (held together previosly by duct tape and hope) are in free fall, the wheels are coming off, and the house of cards is collapsing. The D is going to pack it in knowing the O can't score or even keep its QB upright. It is not just 2 losses straight. It is the likely fact now fully obvious for all to see that a deep playoff run is not going to materialize with this offense/OL as now constituted. Heck, it wouldn't suprise anyone now to see another 2nd half meltdown where a team that was 7-1 finshes up 8-8 or 9-7. Just like last year. The "ceiling" is maybe a 10-6 wildcard berth which pretty much means a one-and-done playoff appearance on the road vs either SF, GB, or NYG.

It is unacceptable for a playoff-bound team to go 1-5 to end last year and then go 3-5 (at best) to end this one, missing the POs last year and missing the division (at minimum) in 2012. Something has to change. Obviously, an OL overhaul is needed player wise. Major upgrades with a least 2 new STARTERS, one each at OT and the interior. And a new OC who knows something about how to put together a modern NFL offense. I'm not a "Lovie hater" and his strengths and weaknesses as a HC are well known by all of us. I could live with keeping him IF we brought on a REAL OC to run the offense (with a much improved OL of course) because Lovie knows diddly squat about NFL level football beyond defense only.

I'm all for a great defense and I know it is Chicago Bears tradition to focus on that. But the idea that "defense alone" wins championships is outdated in the modern NFL game. Plenty of teams (NO, NE, GB) have become yearly playoff franchises and SB winners with a mediocre-to-average at best D because they could run an explosive high-powered offense. The game has cahnged and the Bears haven't adapted to it. Meltdowns two years in a row with your franchise QB literally getting knocked out 3 years straight mean heads need to role both on the field and the sidelines. We are now on the cusp of that 2nd meltdown. It's clown school over at Halas Hall right now.
