This is highly dysfunctional. I remember when Kruetz walked on the Saints, but he made a statement something like "the passion wasn't there anymore". But that was at the end of an overall very good career. I don't know, but this appears to point to a serious riff in the locker room between players and coaches (management), at least in the offense room. I'm not defending Rachal, but the Bears sign him in FA, promote him to 1st team, then demote him. All this while there are other players sticking it up to the point they shouldn't even be dressed on game day, and they're on the field no problem.

Why on earth would Tice put Spencer back in at LG? Rachal was a significant upgrade over Spencer. Also, the major failure on Monday night was our two tackles.
So, why do you bench Rachal? It makes no sense. None.

In a nutshell, you have voiced my misgivings on Tice.
Scary stuff

I am in agreement that he should be doing more than what he has, but no one really knows how much say he had in personnel decisions, anyway. Hell, Cutler didn't have a say until Angelo was fired. You always hear stories of guys saying all the right things to the public (which is what many on here have chided Cutler for not doing) yet trying everything they can behind the scenes to change things up.
Henry, we've been building Rome off and on for the past nine seasons. We built it into a divisional winner in 2005 after going 5-11 in Lovie's first season, and by Lovie's third year, we saw his creation make it to the Super Bowl. Rather than feed off of that success in future years, we suffered through three consecutive seasons from 2007-09 where we failed to make the playoffs. In 2010, we saw a flash of the magic from 2005-06, but the flaws that are so apparent to even the most casual observers of the Chicago Bears today proved to be their undoing in the '10 NFC Championship Game. Then we failed to make the playoffs again in 2011, and that result in the first of what I assume will be many big changes for the Bears coaching and front office personnel when Jerry Angelo was fired and Mike Martz was forced to resign as offensive coordinator. Fast forward to this year, when we for a few hours had the best record in the NFC before losing a squeaker defensive struggle to the Houston Texans and then the ignominious defeat at the hands of the 49ers, and we're still making the mistakes that we've been making now for the past four or five years that cause us not to play to championship levels.
Right now, we're 7-3 and tied atop the division with the Packers, but I have no faith whatsoever that this team will even make the playoffs, much less win the division. I think we might win two, maybe three more games. I think there's a good chance that Minnesota sweeps us this year because of their pass rush, I think there's a better the good chance the Packers clobber us at home and bring the all-time record that the Bears have against them that much closer to Green Bay tying and eventually taking the series lead. I think Seattle will win against us because they have a very good defense. Even the Cardinals and Lions, both of whom are with losing records, aren't guaranteed victories because both teams have what it takes to take advantage of our weaknesses on offense, which are the offensive line and our wide receivers. Yes, the best I think the Bears will finish is 10-6, but more likely, I think we'll go 9-7 or even 8-8. We are NOT a good team. We are the most overrated team in the league right now and that fact is not even debatable.

So, why do you bench Rachal? It makes no sense. None. Exactly. It makes about as much sense as Tice kicking Forte in the groin, because Bush fumbles a ball.
The offense is an abortion.

Henry -- we seem to agree on most things, but Rome will never be built with these craftsmen. They lay the bricks, then chisel them out and move them to a different position. The walls are not getting any bigger or stronger. They are just getting moved around. Then a brick breaks when its being chisled out and it gets thrown away.
Don't see it happening under this coaching regime. And I am not even talking about players. I am viewing the players as an extension of the coaching. Either we have the wrong players (management/coaches), or are not able to develop them (coaches). That is not to say players are not at fault. I am saying that the player issues are the coaches problems to fix and they seem incapable of fixing the current players or choosing better ones.

I think Tice refuses to admit that he was wrong about Webb. He had to pass the blame onto the only guy next to him which was Rachal. Not saying Rachal was good, but it gets the attention off of Webb.

Rachal was probably a victim of that safety he caused. He was trying to get it out and quite frankly was unsure what to do with it until too late. That was bad. Was that benching bad? I certainly don't think so. How many times does Tice practice that scenario? Maybe I've gotten to be not very tolerant of him any more, but he just seems to make one bone-headed decision after another.

Like I said yesterday. This offense does have an identity. It's called the Clusterfuck Offense w/ linemen in motion. Now one more turd drops into the turd bucket of ongoing mistakes made by Tice and Lovie.
They cut CWill after they sign a TE (who doesn't play) because we needed to sign Bowman (who does play) because McManis was hurt but is now healthy so we're up to our assholes in CBs but are now down two starting LGs one who didn't do such a bad job last year. The only vet OG left is Spencer and he got benched for the guy we cut and couldn't have beaten out CWill if we'd just left him at LG. So we bring up a rookie who didn't even look good in preseason.
Just usual SNAFU around Halas Hall. This team is fast becoming a joke again.
Color me gone oh and by the way Mike......
and so does you offense.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

So would playing better. Maybe they can try that.
