Why would he leave his comfy job for something he could not control? Its logic.

IF Lovie and the coaching staff gets swept out after the season, the ONE thing I cannot understand, is how Lovie Smith allowed the oline debacle to end his career here?

This wasn't something that snuck up on him.

It is a situation where we've had a critically fatal flaw on the team for multiple years - and failed to fix it. I will always believe that the true problem was that Lovie Smith never valued the offensive line position as important. I think he failed to understand just HOW important it was to his offense succeeding (and winning Super Bowls with an offense to compliment his great defenses & special teams).

    It was a critical failure.

If Lovie is fired, along with this staff, I will always believe it was the oline failure that took them out. Killed them.

    Go Bears!

It falls on his trust in the OC to tell him what they need to succeed and the GM to get it for him

Coaching staff has to go. Need a change just for the sake of having a change.

Smith hasn't won the SB and likely never will with us. Tice failed and while we are at it, the new HC and Emery may want to have their own DC

If we tank, and I don't really see that happening, I still don't see Lovie, Marinelli or Toub going anywhere. I think Emery will look at the whole picture, he knows Lovie and Marinelli our great Defensive Coaches and as for Toub I don't think I have to say anything here. However I think regardless of how the Offense plays out the rest of the season Tice is gone, Tice all but sealed his fate, when he put his faith in his O linemen as well as his TEs. The worst I see happening is Lovie losing his power over picking the new OC and the new OC will pick his own coaches under him. If Emery were to fire Lovie we could lose Marinelli and Toub something I don't think that Emery or the Bears will want to happen.

Lovie has never wanted a strong OC, I believe Lovie has always seen a strong OC as a challenge to his job security, as well as his power over the team. For years Lovie got his way, in the draft and FA because like himself JA though that the Defense and STs were the most important part of this team and that the Offense had to do with what ever they gave them. Next year under Emery I see very little change in our Defense, but I at the same time I see big changes for the Offense. As for our starters up to this point in the season I see Cutler, Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Louis and maybe even Bennett as being returning starters, that not to say other won't, just that these are the safest.

Out of the Big 4 (Smith, Toub, Tice and Marinelli) if anything of them were to stay it would be Toub.

the "next Harbaugh" is Jay Gruden. He's a smart offensive coach who is cheap and is from the midwest.

His brother, jon gruden, will be too expensive but it would be great to have another set of brothers as both head coaches in the league.

Lovie's had enough time to prove himself. He fired Ron Rivera and its been downhill ever since.

Actually, his defense has gotten better since the 2006 ouster of Rivera (who is about to get fired by the Panthers)

I think it took 3 years to get to the playoffs after Rivera was ousted.

Anyways, another hot coach would be Hue Jackson. I think he would at least be a good OC for Lovie and they would probably get along. He did a decent job in Oakland last year. But he has an ego, so maybe Lovie might not like him.

Who was our QB in 2007, 2008 and 2009? Bad bad and bad. The defense was always strong enough to win.
