Heck, I'll do you one even better than that. Not only can they not correct their failings, but they can't correct the failing when it is the same failing (OL) and they have had multiple shots at fixing the problem. How many more tries do they need?

It's hubris married to myopia.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

This, in a sick way, is kind of like therapy for me. I'm just venting my frustration.
I've been sick over the offensive line woes in recent years. Here's what eats at my gut. I can understand things like injuries tanking our season. It's unavoidable. I understand when you have a new player or two disappoint. It happens. But this oline thing didn't sneak up on us. It wasn't a 1 year thing either. It's really hurt the team.
I think of what "could have been" this season, if only we had a solid oline. It could have been our year to win a Super Bowl. Now, I'm thinking it's another year we fall short. It seems like forever since we won our lone SB in '85.
We all whine about how the Bears "get no respect" from the NFL fans and players - and certainly the sports media often treats us as a joke. Well. This is why they diss us. It's like we take "stupid pills" each year. We shoot ourselves in the foot, as if we were a team of half-wits.
Man, it's sad. Not the 2 recent losses. But the continual stupidity.

Just found this article from 2010. Kinda hits the nail on the head. Just fast forward 2 years and like you say nothing has changed with the Oline, nothing. If Biggs who is one of the local Trib beat writers for the Bears documents the fact that this has been going on for years and we continually fail to address it then Emery should be pretty much boxed into a corner this offseason to get this right. Not just the line but the coaching staff me thinks.

Well, the article did say that rebuilding the OL is a long process. I just didn't know we would have to use the Mayan calender to keep track of it.

Not using the Mayan calendar, just re-enforcing the fact that this has been well known for years and has not been addressed.

1. I don't think the Bears, under Lovie Smith, understand how to build a solid offense. It's not in their DNA.
2. Due to the above point, no solid coach is going to take the job as the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator.
3. In addition to the above two points, we had a GM, Jerry Angelo, who struggled to evaluate talent properly.

dabears - I was just making a joke at how long it is in fact taking us. No offense intended
