I saw more potential out of Weems yesterday at WR than we did out of Hester since the project began
Off-topic but I'll say it again:
There is less and less reason to keep DH around for 2013 as each game passes. I know that is controversial and probably unpopular but Emery is going to have to make tough decisions like that this offseason and he has to put the future best interests of the team and business ahead of nostalgic concerns. Hate to say it (and I don't wish injury on anyone) but DH's unavailability in some ways was a blessing in disguise. It forced Tice to call plays that feature actual WRs like Bennett who has been neglected in the O for too long. And focus on running the ball and not giving up on it too early. And get Weems involved in the return game and even catching a pass.
We are down a 3rd round pick this year. And we may have cap constraints if we pursue a FA LT. And we could use a young speedster WR with hands to stretch the field in the draft since Knox may never return to 100%. And we are going to have obvious multi-positional needs on OL. And DH adds very very little to the O himself. And his days as a game-changer ST guy appear to be dwindling. All adds up to considering a move that none of us want to contemplate. But...if we could squeeze a mid round pick out of some team desperate for ST help, it has to be considered seriously. JMO
i think hester just needs to be made exclusively into a return man next year, and if he doesn't produce, then you let him walk...this hester-receiver thing is for the birds...
Between Hester and Weems we have 2 "WRs" on the roster who are basically just ST players only. Be different if either one of them added something significant on either O or D (a la Randall Cobb in Green Bay or Patrick Peterson in AZ) but neither do. Can we really afford 2 basically full-time STers only who occupy 2 of the 6 WR roster spots???
Just sayin'...it might be time to consider a change this offseason while DH still has some potential trade value left. And he has done nothing special on STs that Weems doesn't already provide.
I wouldn't mind having a crazy Rachal on the O-line. I kinda liked that about him.....Quote:
since Spencer was much better at RG last year than he was at LG this year...do you put him back at RG and use EWill or Brown at LG? Yeah, it would sure be nice to have CWill or a non-crazy Rachal still on the roster right now.
E. Will at LG and Spencer at RG could be the best available. In an interesting twist, this might put Carimi in as backup/swing tackle.
