I saw more potential out of Weems yesterday at WR than we did out of Hester since the project began

But he looked like a real WR.... something Hester has yet to do in three years

Gotta cut him some slack though. Once "The Hester Package" is finally rolled out by Tice, we'll shock the world. Hester is just playin' possum so far. That Mike Tice is a shrewd one.

Off-topic but I'll say it again:
There is less and less reason to keep DH around for 2013 as each game passes. I know that is controversial and probably unpopular but Emery is going to have to make tough decisions like that this offseason and he has to put the future best interests of the team and business ahead of nostalgic concerns. Hate to say it (and I don't wish injury on anyone) but DH's unavailability in some ways was a blessing in disguise. It forced Tice to call plays that feature actual WRs like Bennett who has been neglected in the O for too long. And focus on running the ball and not giving up on it too early. And get Weems involved in the return game and even catching a pass.
We are down a 3rd round pick this year. And we may have cap constraints if we pursue a FA LT. And we could use a young speedster WR with hands to stretch the field in the draft since Knox may never return to 100%. And we are going to have obvious multi-positional needs on OL. And DH adds very very little to the O himself. And his days as a game-changer ST guy appear to be dwindling. All adds up to considering a move that none of us want to contemplate. But...if we could squeeze a mid round pick out of some team desperate for ST help, it has to be considered seriously. JMO

i wouldn't give up on hester just yet...people forget the last time the bears tried to make hester a full time receiver he also struggled as a return man...he went two years without a touchdown in 2008 and 2009, while turner tried to make him into a starting receiver...the number of big returns he had went way down as well...
i think hester just needs to be made exclusively into a return man next year, and if he doesn't produce, then you let him walk...this hester-receiver thing is for the birds...

screw emery he ignored the position like his predecessor. Can't give him props for getting the equivalent of st Clair which only happened cause Chris Williams and tice got into it

I realize this is controversial, just shooting the breeze a bit so to speak. Unfortunately, the "Hester as a WR" thing has been going on way way too long. We have talked about it here over and over. Lots of knowledgeable fans have seen the futility in that but the Bears coaching staff has continued to believe in the implausible and we keep hearing things like the "Hester package" and how "great he looks as a WR" every training camp. It isn't there. Admit it, it just isn't going to ever be there outside of the occaisional "teaser" play that makes the highlight reel. Meanwhile Father Time marches on and DH nears/passes age 30, losing another half step each succeeding year. The difference between now and 2008-2009 is that no additional offensive production has since materialized and DH is 3-4 years older.
Between Hester and Weems we have 2 "WRs" on the roster who are basically just ST players only. Be different if either one of them added something significant on either O or D (a la Randall Cobb in Green Bay or Patrick Peterson in AZ) but neither do. Can we really afford 2 basically full-time STers only who occupy 2 of the 6 WR roster spots???
Just sayin'...it might be time to consider a change this offseason while DH still has some potential trade value left. And he has done nothing special on STs that Weems doesn't already provide.

since Spencer was much better at RG last year than he was at LG this year...do you put him back at RG and use EWill or Brown at LG? Yeah, it would sure be nice to have CWill or a non-crazy Rachal still on the roster right now.
I wouldn't mind having a crazy Rachal on the O-line. I kinda liked that about him.....
E. Will at LG and Spencer at RG could be the best available. In an interesting twist, this might put Carimi in as backup/swing tackle.
"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....
