Truer words were never spoken Grizz and if Lovie isn't playing for his contract extension then I sure as hell hope Tice is playing to keep his as the OC intact. It makes little difference whether we make the playoffs or not. Without an offense we can't beat a good team.

He came back the next day. Should have made him issue a written statement apologizing and then kissed and made up. We could use the guy--he's the best LG we have/had. Could have always let him go in the offseason if his emotional issues were such a problem. Couldn't wait 2 more months???
Well MP as the Stone's once sang "It's All Over Now".

He's on the Non-Injured Reserve list for the rest of the year and then I'd be willing to bet he's gone. I can imagine that he was pissed but in Lovie's eyes walking out on the team is not something a Bears player would do.

Rachal cooked his own goose there and now he's in Lovie's dog house and I really doubt there's a door left for him to come out of. Lovie mentioned something about him getting his personal issues straightened out whatever that means. It's all just typical Lovie mumbo-jumbo coach speak to me. The inscrutable Lovie Smith. He tells you nothing you don't already know.

Based on the way Rachal was playing, or not playing, I doubt we'll be any worse off with Gurode and I don't even expect him to start right away. My guess is we'll see EWIll and Carimi starting at OG on Sunday with Brown as a reserve. Gurode may not even suit up yet. He hasn't played in nearly a year.

i pretty much agree, Soul. I think the chances of us making a playoff run (yes, I do think we will make it there) are slim due the OC, injury, & OL limitations imposed on the offense in general. My homer-diehard fan-ism makes me hope and cheer as though we will be hosting and winning the NFCCG but I know intellectually that just isn't going to happen. The Bears rolled the dice this past offseason that the stars would align to solidify the OL ("better scheme", Webb coming into his own, Carimi breaking out, someone nailing down the LG job). It didn't materialize on either the player or coaching side. Add in some dumb personnel moves and a key injury and we are left with a line so bad that the offense barely functions and its hard to beat a playoff caliber team like that.

The only silver lining in this is that Emery & Co. really get to see what certain people are made of with a view toward next year. Tice is the most obvious one as OC-on-the-hot-seat. Lovie too. I would have no problem keeping Lovie if he had an OC who could actually run an offense. You're right--it gets old watching us get completely out-coached by teams like SF & GB. And players too. Are EWill & Scott worth keeping around as backups? How much can be expected out of Carimi next year?

Emery has an important offseason ahead. He has to know that we are basically just an OL away from a Super Bowl.
