Just As Long As It's Not Here..................
*The word around the NFL is former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo is getting some play as a potential general manager or consultant and is likely to get back in the game in 2013. The Bears’ success this year reflects well on him, as Angelo constructed the roster, hired Lovie Smith and most of the front office. What’s more, he oversaw a team that had sustained success.
Well I would argue more that he oversaw a team that had mostly sustained mediocrity with "periodic success" but that's me. Yeah, he hired Lovie and we could have done much worse but that was a "shot in the dark" hiring anyway.
I'll give him credit where credit is due which is mostly the key offensive and defensive acquisitions of Cutler and Pep but on the other hand if his drafting had been better would we have needed to spend the $$$ and draft choices it took to accomplish that?
His track record on draft day and his hits and misses in free agency put him squarely in the middle of the pack as far as I'm concerned. Like Lovie Smith as a HC we could have done worse and we had worse before JA came along when Mikey was in charge.
Had the Bears teams of this last decade been perpetual playoff teams and SB contenders more than just once I might be more forgiving but in reality his poor drafting left this team a mess offensively and despite the efforts of Phil Emery to make some improvements we're still a very long way away from getting that problem solved.
It's really hard to believe that anyone in pro football could have done a much worse job of drafting offensive personnel than JA did. If anyone hires him as consultant they'd be well advised to keep his work for them on the defensive side of the table. JMHO
Well whatta you guys think of this?
4th I'll save you some time and just post a response for you buddy. :drinking61:
