Hey... More power to them. They'll be getting a diamond in the rough --- that will always stay rough.

If Ted Thompson is looking to step aside I would highly recommend Angelo.

Wow. All I can say is wow. Jerry Angelo was considered to be one of the very worst general managers in the league for a number of years. Yes, we won four division titles in 11 years under his watch, but what happened when we didn't win a division title? Five losing seasons of seven wins or few, one eight win season, one nine win season, and all of that was brought about by poor draft choices. From his last draft as Bears' general manager, it looks like we're going to pay for his decision to draft Carimi provided Carimi doesn't come around by this time next year, and the only two draft picks from his last draft that have become solid players for us are Stephen Paea and Chris Conte, no doubt on defense. He was arguably the worst judge of offensive talent I have ever seen, and only his defensive and special teams draft picks, along with the trade/free agent acquisitions of Jay Cutler and Julius Peppers, make him look like a serviceable GM.
Seriously guys, if the Packers ever decide to can Ted Thompson, can we put a plug in for Jerry Angelo to go up to Green Bay and be their GM? For once, we'd have something to hold over their heads.

I think JA could be a great adviser, in the right situation. A brilliant defensive scout, but the guy knows jack shit about offense.

Without a doubt every OT he's drafted in one (Colombo, CWill and Carimi) has had major injury problems that have cost us big time. But out of the bunch I still believe Carimi has a lot of upside.
There's no doubt that the kid is a strong run blocker and at this point in time we really don't know how much his injury and recovery from it are playing into his problems this year. He wasn't even healthy enough in camp to play everyday which is why they yanked CWill out of his so called competition with Webb.
I'll grant you that a year from now if he still hasn't improved greatly as a pass blocker we may have another bust on our hands as far as an OT goes but he'll get some reps now at OG so we can get some kind of an idea of whether or not he can play inside.
I'm not all that worried about him. Unlike some I think he has the football smarts and the character to overcome his current problems. He just needs to learn more about the game at this level and how to counter a pass rush better.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

He's like that uncle with a metal detector down by the beach. You go find that ST gunner and trade down Jerry. Meantime, we'll all be inside sipping cocoa for Christmas unwrapping shiny new TALENT.
