Why do people want of draft O linemen

I still don't understand why people think drafting an O linemen in the first and second round is our best move, to me you go after what you already know is a good O linemen in FA. You don't have to go after the top LT or G in FA to impove this O line that is for sure. I could see us drafting a Center in the middle rounds but thats it.

As of today we have a 1st round T playing G, 2 years, a 4th round G playing C, 12 years, a 5th round T, 7 years, a 7th round pick T, 3 long years, and a UDFA, 4 years. It looks to me like it wouldn't take a ton of looking in FA, to impove the O line by 50% over what we have today and not spend the bank. And with JA gone hopefully we won't go after ageing O linemen. Just think how good our draft could be if we just address the O line maybe TE in FA.

Well, we could get a top FA LT and see if Tice will play him at LT or C.

No guarantee what Tice will do. He looks them over and decides he knows better where they will fit and sticks them in there. So far, hasn't worked real well.

I honestly do not know if it is a question of talent and ability or playing out of position or just bad coaching. I am not sold any more that Tice is a bad OC but a great OL coach, so I'm open to it being a coaching issue. In reality, it's probably some combination of all three. But that still means that Tice is at fault. The caoches always have a part in what players they get. If they tell the GM that they want a certain guy or don't want a certain guy, that weighs heavily.

So if its quality of players, or playing out of position or straight up coaching, i just keep coming back to Tice.

So in a long winded kind of way, I know that bringing in new people will help (especially proven veterans because they are already coached up and Tice will probably play them in their position -- although he didn't with Spencer) but yeah, like you I wonder if the problem isn't deeper than just bringing in new talent.

Not really sure if your joking but the line needs TALENT. The cast-offs, retreads, experiments, and UDFA's aren't bringing this team out of the basement of being ranked near last. FA will only get us so far. It's going to take years to get out of this mess, so you start now by drafting them.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

We need to get talent for the O-Line our current group can only do so much at the moment and that isn't helping keep Cutler protected.

I'm all for an FA move to help the OL; but that won't be the only solution. Getting the correct young OL talent is the what is needed. SF's OL has 3 first rounders on it; if done right it's sets your team up for a long time.

This may make the most sense.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
