I think Doug and OB put it best, this is a team that wants to play it close to the vest and keep it close, why are you going for it on 4th and 1 when a FG gives you a 2 score game?
To anyone that thinks this coaching staff would have went for it at the end of the game like they did to win, you're nuts, they would have taken a knee and went into OT and lost it.
What I want to know is: when did our fanbase decide they're happy w/17-20 points a game; like this D is what it used to be and we could win like that? If that's what we wanted, why not keep our picks and KO; he was capable of 2-3 scores. The O, ecspecially at home on a good field(rare), needs to be able to put up more then that.

I liked the call. If you can't convert on 4th and inches, then you don't deserve to win. And, you probably are not going to win. That was pathetic.
There were just too many player mistakes today to win. We didn't deserve to win. Seattle's players made the plays, and our players did not make the plays to win.

But that's the thing Jabf, we are down so many playmakers, ecspeically on OL, why expect them to make that play? I will say that, more then the call, it was on Bush for trying to go up high instead of lowering his head and plowing through.

Good points.
We are not such a powerful team that we can make many mistakes, and expect to win. Coaches and players have a very small margin of error moving forward. I hate using injuries for an excuse because all teams, this time of the year, struggle with injuries. But, it probably hurts us worse than post teams due to the fact many of our starters are not so hot to begin with - like our oline, TE's, and we're not much at WR after B.Marsh and Bennett.
We're still in this, and could win the division, and even do some damage in the playoffs. Even with our injuries. But the players are going to have to play near-mistake free games. A heck of a lot better than they executed today.

I also liked the call. Over the years I have been so sick of the Bears playing it safe only to see the defense let up in the fourth quarter and the team losing in the end because they did not score enough touchdowns. Doesn't anyone else remember those days? The Bears would be up by a touchdown, kick the field goal, and try to run the clock out in the second half but allowing teams to come back and win.

It was a good call. You have to be able to move the ball a few inches with a 245 RB. If you can't do that, you should not be one of 32 NFL teams.

I have to say given the situation I would've kicked the FG. We were dominating the game to that point but were only up 1 score & in my opinion you have to take the FG to go up 2 scores. Having said that I think the biggest play of the game was Bennet's drop on the long pass. Combined that with not kicking the FG & that's 10 points left on the field. At 17-0 I doubt very seriously we lose. Just a very disappointing game. I'm not used to our defense giving up a 97 yard drive to get behing late in the game & then a 80 drive in OT to lose.
Back to OP, I know Forte isn't healthy but he wasn't playing well before his latest injury IMHO. Maybe he never got fully healthy but he's been playing like a very average back most of the year from what I see. He's not making anyone miss & he's not breaking any tackles. That's just the way I see it.

You could have a rhino in the backfield but if your o-line is a shambles you won't gain squat. You don't roll dice on 4th and inches in a close game at home with injuries galore. You play to eek out a W.
If Forte doesn't get 5-7 looks at a pass I'll say you can kiss the Vikes game goodbye.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Saw the same garbage outta Neal Anderson 20 years ago after he got paid.......then morphed from pro-bowler to 3.5 ypc guy.
And 20 yrs ago , after he'd had enough Ditka said something like " we got a RB out there who's not performing like he used to , looking to fall down and tripping on the tall grass " .
That said it's pretty hard to go anywhere when there's no holes in the wall . I've yet to see 1 RB in NFL history who was ever any good at running through a wall .
There's one solution and everyone knows what it is . Hopefully Emery will assert himself and make the Oline the top priority . If it doesn't happen , be prepared to watch the same movie again next season .

Well either the coaches or the Oline did help him much. Oline didn't do to well at blocking and creating holes, and the coaches should have used him more in the passing game specially when Bennet when out.
What I would like to point out was the drive that let us to the TD.
Hand it off to Forte in the right side
Hand it off to Forte in the right side
Hand it off to Forte in the right side
Fake it to Forte in the right side and make Bennet run from right to left where he is wide open throw him the ball=TD. Really took the Seahawks with their pants down in that drive.. Good play calling for once.
