    Ding. Ding. Ding.

    We have a winner.

(I'd add that we need to give Emery more than 1 off-season to fix what needs fixing on the team - both players and coaches).

    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

    You're 100% right.

But the offense does impact the defense. With a weak offense, all of our chips are bet on the defense scoring and generating lots of turnovers. That's not realistic to expect. It's like a dysfunctional family.

Well, I keep coming up with the same question. Cutler has now had tow games with decent protection. Offensive production did not reflect that. The inference I would have to make from that is that the OL play was not the primary driver for the lousy play (as silly as that feels to be typing that when I saw how horrible they were, I can't logically come to any other conclusion).

So then what is the issue (issues actually)?

What about some young college coach? I know it would be a huge gamble but hey it worked for SF.

Cowher would be ideal I couldn't imagine a better scenario but I'm not holding my breath.

We don't have to gamble. Coaching for the Chicago Bears should be a VERY lucrative coaching job now that Emery is here, and we have a decent ST's and Defense (yes, yesterday sucked but we do have a decent defense in Chicago). I'd think a solid OC would love to come here now.

If you're talking about a new HC, the same thing applies. No more hiring a guy with no HC experience like we did with Love. Lovie had a LOT to learn on-the-job about being an NFL head coach. Next time around, let's get a solid guy who has had solid success at the NFL level. Sure, a college guy CAN work out, but why do that if you don't have to?

Yeah I get it but my point is who realistically are we going to get?

I'd love Cowher or Gruden but frankly they both have tv gigs that are prolly stress and work free so I'm not sure if they can be brought here, or anywhere for that matter

So that leaves us with Reid, and I wouldn't be opposed to it, hell I wouldn't be opposed to any one of you guys over nimrod

So what exactly IS the criteria to be used to determine if the HC is culpable?

If he throws Tice under the bus just like Martz?

If he misses the playoffs more often than not?

If he cannot beat top tier coaches?

Does not a HC's philosophy effect the culture good and bad? A defensive emphasis and less regard to the offense? I've yet to see a great paradigm shift in strategy.

So tell me what tenets do you pull the plug on a HC based on?
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

That's mine right there. That in and of itself means we will not play in a SB. We need to beat top tier coaches to even get into the big game -- much less win it. If you can't do that then your only function is to keep above a .500 for the season. Which is exactly what I am seeing.
